Honeymoon spent in paradise!

We stayed at Tamarind House for a week in Sept 09 for our honeymoon. Tobago has to one of the few gems left in the world that hasn't been taken over by the tourist hotel block/water park money machines. Tamarind House offers an excellent level of accomodation with absolutely stunning views of Parlatuvier Bay to the front and exotic rain forest scenery to the side and rear. The refreshing pool is a must on the hot days! There is an abundance of wildlife literally on the doorstep be it the beautiful parrots, humming birds or the gecko/lizards. For our honeymoon retreat we were after something special, away from the buzz and commotion that we have in every day life - we found the required peace and tranquility at Tamarind House & Tobago. The service we recieved from the owners was nothing short of exceptional, by far better than any 5 star treatment we have recieved before - taxi pick up at airport, food shopping prior to arrival, welcome meal, island info etc. as well as a great help and service offered pre, during & post booking. There are a few locals who are on hand at or near Tamarind House be it the house keeper, local tour guide, ice cream man etc. all on hand to offer advice on how to find what you're looking for or to advise the must see or do attractions - or to just leave you in peace!
For Tobago itself; there is the oppurtunity to dive and snorkel at the many deserted beaches, hike/trail, boat trips etc. at various points all over the island and with the island only being 26 miles by 6 miles wide, everything was easily reachable with a hire car. There are various restaurants in Paralatuvier and nearby towns or elsewhere on the island that offer lovely, varied local cuisine and experience (drum night on a Wednesday in Castara Bay was especially entertaining, as was the tranquility offered by a beatiful beach front view from the Blue Waters Inn near Speyside).
If you are after an escape and something outwith the normal tourist chain experience, Tamarind House and the island of Tobago has to be on your list.
