The main attraction at Famara has to be the beach, whilst not suitable for swimming; it is a surfer’s paradise. The working village of La Caleta de Famara is found at one end of the beach, this is predominately a fishing village that boasts some great tapas bars and restaurants to relax in. Famara cliffs dominate the other end of the beach and are some 450m high. Owner's Tips... Ideally situated on famara beach, a paradise for water sports including surfing, kitesurfing and windsurfing. Schools and instruction available for both surfing and kite surfing locally. A 2 minute drive to Caleta de Famara which has an array of restaurants specialising in locally caught fish and Spanish cuisine. Great for walking and cycling and only 10 minutes drive to the historic town of Teguise. Only minutes drive away from a favorite hang gliding take off in Lanzarote

Hang Gliding: Lanzarote belongs to one of the nicest and most popular areas for hang-gliding. Lanzarote offers at least one start place for every wind direction. The nicest flight you will have started from the Risco de Famara, a mountain range with steep slopes behind the house. It offers the best conditions to fly with west wind. Landing on the beach of La Caleta is normally not a problem. In wintertime you will find hang-gliders from all around Europe in La Caleta.

Kite Surfing: The Kitesurfing on Lanzarote is suited for two levels, those looking to learn and advance their skills and the truly advanced! Sea conditions are similar to an ideal UK spot so small shore break, cross on winds, shallow flat water heading out to a small break before larger waves further out. All this and more but in a warmer climate with more consistant winds, Happy Days! The main Kite spot is Famara Beach and realisticaly the best all round spot on Lanzarote as is progressive in its nature and suited for all levels. The beach itself is sandy and 5km long nice and wind with a mellow shore break, shallow water for probably 50 yards, where you can then expect 2 to 3ft waves with a clean 20 yards or so in between. Out back is for the more advanced riders as there is an epic right that kicks up 4 to 6 ft sets that on big winter days can be overhead plus.

We had a great stay in the Famara beach apartment.
Our host was very accomodating and the apartment had a cozy ambiance with everything we needed and more! (children's books, games, DVD's surf magazines, ipod connection) We had great sunset and beach views from the front garden with plenty of space for everyone to stretch out and feel comfortable. The kitchen was ideal for cooking and the trampoline provided a bit of extra fun for our two year old girl.
The beach was not very far to walk or drive and the apartment made a great base for exploring the island.
Thanks for a great stay and relaxing family holiday!

Great chilling place

We have recently returned from a very enjoyable kite surfing holiday spent in Famara.

We stayed in a fantastic apartment, a couple of mins drive, or easily within walking distance, of the beach. The views are spectacular. Don’t worry if shopping is low on your list, if you haven’t made the supermarket on the way from the airport, you won’t starve. Lynne, the owner who lives next door (but you wouldn’t know she was there!), has everything under control, you won’t go hungry. We found essentials such as bread, milk and other basics in the fridge, but most importantly chilled beer and wine! Fantastic customer service!

The spotlessly clean apartment is modern and fully furnished with everything you need including TV, DVD, I-Pod station, fully equipped kitchen, bbq and even a washing machine – what a comfort! You can even brush up on your kite tricks on the trampoline in the garden.

There is a small general store on site and a restaurant serving a variety of food. There are also restaurants and café bars in the local village, Caleta de Famara, serving tapas and fresh fish – delicious.

Highly recommended – great chilling place – we’ll certainly be back!

We've just returned from a kite-surfing,running,cycling and relaxing week at this lovely apartment. It is spacious and well equipped and I would agree with previous comments that the photos don't do it justice.
The owners live next door and were friendly and helpful and left us a great 'welcome pack' of food and drink which we hadn't expected.

We ate in restaurants in Famara and in Teguise. Unfortunately we can't remember the name of the restaurant we ate at in Famara (on front,blue paintwork!) but the food was excellent and the staff were lovely and didn't mind spending time giving us a Spanish lesson even though they were quite busy!

We would definately recommend this property to friends.

Fantastic apartment, fab location, great welcome!!

My family and I stayed at this fab apartment during the easter holidays 2009. We were amazed at it's beautiful location, views etc... But even more impressed with the welcome we got from Lynne, and her continued efforts to make sure our holiday was as relaxed and enjoyable as possible.

The apartment was clean and spacious, the garden with trampoline was a lovely private space, and a real hit with the kids!!! Lynne had food and drink in the fridge on our arrival and more DVDs and board games for us and the kids that we could ever have played in the 2 weeks!! Her local knowledge was invaluable for our first trip to Lanzarote, and the apartment was a really great base for us to explore the real island away for all the touristy 'English Pub' spots in the major tourist resorts.

We had a great time staying in Famara and have no reservations in recommending the location, but more especially Lynne's apartment and her hospitality.

Great holiday accomodation

We have just returned from a lovely holiday staying here. The apartment is lovely and the photos do not do it justice. The space and garden make it feel much more like a house than an apartment and the views are amazing. The apartment has a wonderful outside area which is great for kids and adults alike and it is not far to the beach. We also really enjoyed the surrounding areas of Lanzarote - plenty to keep you busy. Thanks to Lynne for her great hospitality!
