Photos and Description of this Gosau holiday apartment A self-catering luxury flat, a few minutes walk to ski lifts, superb views

Our beautifully appointed apartment is south facing and overlooks the spectacular Dachstein mountain range. A short walk will take you to the Hornspitz chair lift and fast access to the extensive Dachstein-West ski area. In summer you simply walk or take your mountain-bike and explore the mountains from your doorstep. The apartment is on the second floor of a three-storey block. It consists of a lounge-diner with windows on two sides and access to a large L-shaped balcony with sunshine most of the day and fantastic views across the mountains. Inside the lounge, the floors are wooden throughout. There are two large comfortable sofas which convert easily into double beds. There is a large wall-mounted 32 inch flat lcd screen TV and DVD player and sky TV, as well as broadband. There is a separate bedroom with double bed, bathroom with bath & power shower and washing machine and a kitchen with cooker, fridge and dishwasher. Newly furnished in 2007. Central heating throughout.

In winter there are 140kms of piste right on the doorstep, suitable for beginners and intermediates in the Dachstein-West. You don't have to travel too far for many other skiing possibilities in Loser, Krippenstein, St Gilgen and Postalm. In Gosau you can go swimming in the indoor pool as well as countless walking possibilities in the mountains. Swimming in the many nearby lakes is also possible in summer as are numerous water sports activities. This area - the Salzkammergut - is the Austrian lake district. A short drive takes you to the Unesco protected village of Hallstatt on a beautiful lake and a similar drive in the opposite direction takes you to the old imperial spa town of Bad Ischl. Further afield is Salzburg - Mozart and Sound of Music country! For those into 20th century history, Hitler's Eagles Nest is in nearby Obersalzberg and the former concentration camps at Ebensee and Mauthausen are a worthwhile and sobering experience.

Ski: The skiing possibilities in Gosau are endless. There is a great ski school at the Hornspitz chairlift (a 5 minute walk) where you can learn or improve your skiing. There are 140kms of piste in the Dachstein West area..again on your doorstep. Most of the area is suitable for intermediates (mostly red runs) with sufficient to keep cautious beginners fully occupied. There are some really nice ski huts on the mountains with opportunities for eating and drinking. Within 20 minutes to an hours drive are a vast array of ski resorts including Loser, Postalm, Krippenstein, Schladming and Altenmarkt.
