Photos and Description of this Frigiliana holiday house Mountain and Sea Views : 2 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, 2 roof terraces

Our holiday home is set high in the original Moorish part of Frigiliana and is a modernised terraced 'casa del pueblo' with gorgeous mountain and sea views. It has a good-sized kitchen, two living rooms, two bedrooms, and two roof terraces. Steps from the traffic-free narrow cobbled street lead into a delightful living room with a dining and kitchen area, and with a bathroom off. The next floor has two double bedrooms and a washroom. On the floor above is a second living room with a kitchenette area with small fridge and sink. This lovely day room has doors to a roof terrace with a sun canopy, table and chairs. An outside staircase leads to the very top of the house with a work room and second roof terrace. This has magnificent views and space for sun-bathing. The house is in the prettiest, most peaceful, part of the Frigiliana - but you do have climb the cobbled stairs to reach it. It would not be suitable for the very elderly or disabled, or indeed for very young children.

Frigiliana is a delightful, historic Andalucian village set in the foothills of the Almijara mountains, just 10 minutes drive from the elegant resort of Nerja, with its lovely beaches. Frigiliana is built on the edge the spectacular gorge of the River Higueron, and there are splendid walks in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Yet Frigiliana is well situated for visiting the towns and cities of Andalucia - Ronda, Granada, Cordoba and Seville, and it is an easy drive to Gibraltar. The village is small enough to have retained a delightful Spanish charm, but there are plenty for restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance of Calle Santa Teresa. You won't need a car if all you want to do is chill out in Frigiliana. If you do bring one you can park it in a nearby street and it will be a 5-10 minutes uphill walk to the house.

Further details for this holiday house rental in Frigiliana, Spain

Swimming: There are plenty of beaches in Nerja and along the coast. You'll enjoy exploring them. In the school summer holidays the school swimming pool, just off the ring road, is open to the public. It's a gorgeous pool with a cafeteria, changing room and showers. Very few people seem to be aware of it.

Transport: When we hire a car we usual park it on the ring road and take the steps that lead up to opposite the Allegria bar - that's the most direct, but steepest route. (Not for the first time when carrying luggage.) When we don't bring a car, we come from the airport by bus. There is an airport bus into Malaga bys station, then another bus to Nerja and a third up to Frigiliana. It takes a long time, but it's very cheap (about£4), and enjoyable, and they run on time.

Stuff in the house: The house our own holiday home. There is a hair-dryer, and an iron and ordinary things like books and games. There is a TV, but we've never got round to getting an aerial so all you can view is Spanish TV with terrible reception. But there is video player and DVD player that both work. We have left videos and DVDs there, but if you're thinking of a long let you might want to bring your own. There are a couple of portable radios, one with a CD player. The caretaker organises laundry of sheets and bath towels, but there are also plenty of old towels you can take to the beach, so no need to bring beach towels.

Santa Teresa Review

Steve the Hammer Battersea, London
Review Submitted: March 3, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2007
I came upon this charming house by chance in 2004 and have been back twice since. Frigiliana needs no introduction (it's a stunner), and the village is within an easy drive to beaches at Nerja (and the restaurants on its eastern beach) and La Herradura, and the motorway to Malaga and Granada is only about 2 miles away.

Once you've parked the car and hauled your luggage up a set of steep steps (not an exercise for the seriously unfit), the house is very clean and comfortable and is a true home from home, and apart from the normal amenities everyone expects, it has good bedding and towels, CD and DVD players (even a cassette player for an old fogie like me) much available detail about walks, and two fabulous roof terraces - both with amazing views, with the lower one immediately off the second floor sitting room. The upper terrace is for serious sunbathers, and hanging out the washing.

There is a good selection of restaurants and bars and most of the eateries in the village are decent. There is a very good "house book" in which the guests have reviewed many of them. However, I would seriously recommend The Garden (under new ownership from 2006) and La Romantica. Jaimes is also good value and with good views. Apparently there is also a restaurant in the short narrow pedestrian street between the Church square and the house, whose name escapes me, but attracts rave reviews, but outside summer only opens at weekends.

I'd actually give this place 4 stars plus. Enjoy!

Wish we were there now !

This is the nicest of the four houses that we have rented in Frigiliana over the last few years.
The old houses in the village are similar but their size, location, aspect and comfort obviously varies.
This one scores highly with us because of its elevated position and its fantastic terraces and views and because it has been carefully renovated to provide a clever mix of traditional and modern accommodation.
The solely Spanish television programmes are not a problem as their is a very informative local English speaking radio station.
We have stayed at the house in the spring and the autumn as we find the sun is hot enough to sunbath but not too hot for walking in the surrounding countryside.
Our favourite restaurant is El Porton just off the main street which has a very friendly atmosphere and excellent food except for the goat stew which I cannot recommend.
The village shops can provide all your grocery needs, you just have be a little patient sometimes !
What more can I say - Frigiliana and this house are delightful - I wish we had found them both sooner.

December holiday

cm99 Reading
Review Submitted: March 2, 2008 Date of Stay: December 2007
This is a lovely spot for a relaxing holiday. We had a few days in and around Frigiliana (which is so pretty), doing some walks and visiting Nerja. Then we did some trips exploring Andalucia: to Ronda and then to Jerez and Cadiz (overnight stops) and back past Gibraltar. There are stunning places to see.

Temperature was 20 during the day and very sunny, but chilly in the evenings (it was December!).

The house is clean and pretty and has everything you need and there lovely views from the terrace over the village and to the sea. It is delightful to enjoy your breakfast, evening drink or just sit and read a book sitting in the sun.

There are nice restaurants and bars open in Frigiliana all through the winter, but it's not as busy as in the summer. There are traditional village shops for buying food etc, as well as the tourist stuff, and there's a regular bus service to Nerja for the beach and town.

Excellent house, wonderful location

Shropshire Sue Shropshire, UK
Review Submitted: February 29, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008
A very attractive, comfortable & well-equipped house, just as described on the website, set in a beautiful village. The ground floor sitting room is dark, as you’d expect from this type of ‘casa del pueblo’, but very cosy & warmly lit. Having another sitting room on the second floor gives great flexibility as it is very light. A real bonus is that it is equipped with fridge, kettle & sink &, as it has access to the main terrace, it is perfect for al fresco dining. The view from this terrace is wonderful but that from the top terrace just takes your breath away, however to get there you have to climb an outside metal staircase, which may not suit everyone. Climbing steps is a feature of both the house & the village so you need to be prepared for this but both are well worth the effort! We are already thinking of returning next year.
