Hillside is a pleasing Victorian house on a quiet lane within 80 yards of the beach. Situated in the small south Cornish village of Gorran Haven it is on the Coastal Path and is convenient for Heligan Gardens and the Eden Project. Ideal for families or coast path walkers. Superbly placed for Summer days on the beach punctuated by quick trips home. The pleasant and secure garden overlooking the sea is a good alternative when the beach is too much. It has sun loungers, outside dining furniture, barbeque, sand pit and paddling pool. Indoors: Log burner, Aga & dishwasher etc. Hillside is the original 'House by the Beach' and we lived in it ourselves for several years very happily with our young family. It is in the heart of the older village. We enjoyed the friendliness of our neighbours and the pleasures of eating fish and chips on the quay in the evening sun while the children rolled about in the sand or paddled. Gorran Haven is a small friendly village half way down the south coast of Cornwall. It has two sandy beaches, safe swimming, rockpools, kayak hire, a beach cafe and a quay. There are a handful of small shops, a bakery, a cafe and a pub - everything you need really. Organic produce, local meat and fish straight from the boat can be bought nearby. This is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and there are some wonderful walks inland and along the South Cornish Coastal path through unspoilt countryside or along the clifftops. Nearby Dodman point owned by the National Trust has an Iron Age fort, nearby are Heligan Gardens, the Eden Project and Caerhayes Castle Gardens. Mevagissey the next fishing village has a ferry to Fowey. Within walking distance along the coast towards the Roseland Peninsular there are secluded beaches. At nearby Pentewan there is a sailing and diving school. Truro has some good shops, theatre and cinema. St Austell has a first class wine merchant.

  • The bathroom has retained much of its original character with large 1880 bathtub (with a modern shower over). The room has high ceiling and a peaceful view over fields across the lane. Large mirrors reflect the light and the view.

Notes: The sitting room has a log burner and logs can be supplied by arrangement. There are electric radiators. The kitchen has an Aga as well as microwave and conventional hob. The kitchen is well equipped for family dining with blender, plenty of picnic ware, a slow cooker etc. There is a well stocked toybox, various children's wetsuits and body boards are available. The house is situated on a very quiet lane and it is possible to stop outside to load and unload. Parking is in the village carpark 5 minutes walk from the house. Alternatively street parking is available 100 yards away (night time only during the Summer months). The garden has a lovely sea view and is a quiet place to relax, having sun loungers, sandpit & paddling pool and outside dining facilities.
