Photos and Description of this Nice Old Town (Vieux Nice) holiday apartment
Sunny, airy, modern apartment in historic building in the heart of Vieux Nice

Fabulous apartment with views over the roofs of old Nice to the sea. 100m from the markets of Cour Saleya and the beach with its abundance of cafés and restaurants this is a location that is hard to beat.

The apartment was selected by us, to include as one of our rental properties, for its location. Rue du Malonat is a quiet pedestrien side street, right in the heart of old Nice. You step out of the door, 20 meters to the end of the street, and you literally have hundreds of cafés, restaurants, and shops, not to mention the famous market stalls of Cour Saleya just around the corner. Another few steps from there and you are on the Quai des Etas Unis and the beach.

When you have had enough sun, and enough food, there are a multitude of other things to see and do, from scuba diving and sailing, through cycling and rollerblading, to a multitude of museums and maybe an evening at the Opera.

With all this on your doorstep, you are sure to enjoy your stay.

Details for Malonat 2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 5, 1 Bathroom, 1 Separate WC

Our Malonat apartment was completely refurbished in 2007, to a high standard. Oak parquet throughout, generous bathroom, separate lavatory, two bedrooms, and a great living space with views over the roof tops of old Nice to the sea. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the appliances we come to expect in a modern kitchen. The main bedroom has a double bed, fitted wardrobe, and chest of drawers, so you won't be short of storage space. The second bedroom has two single beds, open shelving and a chest of drawers. The bathroom has a large shower, double basin unit, heated towel rail, and again plenty of shelving and space for 6 people to put toiletries. On the practical side, there is a large 'Monoprix' supermarket nearby for your weekly shop and a multitude of corner shops you can get last minute provisions from. The main bus station is a short walk away and from there you can get up and down the coast from Cannes to Monte Carlo, quickly, comfortably and for only about 1 euro/trip

You will be met at the apartment for check in and check out, so assistance is on hand for carrying bags.. The fixtures, fittings, equipment and furniture new and of high quality. The apartment remains quiet at night, it's light / bright and very clean. Child's seats and cots are available on request.

Further details for this holiday apartment rental in Nice Old Town (Vieux Nice), France

How to double the size of the apartment.: This apartment is on next door to another apartment we operate called Saleya, property 78631. The two apartments can be rented separately or together to create accommodation for up to ten people. There is a doorway off the staircase that gives onto a hallway, from that hallway each apartment has it's own front door. If the apartments are rented separately, then the hallway remains 'public', and if they are rented together then the hallway remains 'private'.

Getting around: Busses- The TAM busses are operated by the Conseil General des Alpes Maritimes and now charge a flat 1? per person, per trip. ie Every time you get on the bus, you pay 1? regardless of how far you are going. The busses are clean, usually on time, and air conditioned.

Trains- The TER trains are the ones that serve the coastal towns, they are regular and clean. A ticket Nice to Monaco return will set you back 5 euro, but if you fancy spending the day exploring several towns then you are best to go for the Carte Isabelle which allows you on and off the train from Fr?jus to Vintimiglia as many times as you like in one day, and costs 12 euro, unfortunately it is only available in the summer month July to September.

If train journeys is what you enjoy then you might want to consider the Chemin de Fer de Provence which offers a very scenic train through the lower Alpes from Nice to Dignes, clinging to the hill sides as it meanders its way across valleys and on up into the hills.

Tram- The tram is popular, and is therefore usually crowded, Tickets can be bought at the stops, from the booths on the platforms

Pricing is as follows;

1 trip ticket =1 euro

10 trip ticket = 10 euro

1 day pass = 4 euro

7 day pass = 15 euro

Cyclotour- You will see, dotted around Nice, strange tricycles with a covered back seat. If you are worn out from to much walking and/or shopping, use them. They are usually driven by students who will take you wherever you want for 1?/km, even on a tour of Nice.

Parking- For those of you who come by car, parking Saleya (under cours Saleya) do passes for the duration of your stay . As a guide they charge 49? for a three day pass and 8? a day thereafter, which allows you in and out as often as you like. It is worth remembering that if it is your birthday they will offer you your birthday parking for free, and they have bicycles that they will lend free to car park users. You can get information on all this on site in the car park.

Comments from Owner Guestbook

Review Submitted: December 6, 2007 Date of Stay: December 2007
We stayed in the Malonat apartment in July 2007 for 5 magical nights. Fantastic! Thanks to our hosts who were very helpful and welcoming. It was greatly appreciated, our trip was so much more enjoyable. The apartment was gorgeous and well worth the climb! The location was perfect, everything at our doorstep, including the market which had the most delicious food! I'll never forget the taste of those olives! In the afternoon, we enjoyed strolling through the little streets of the Old Town and discovering interesting shops, churches, restaurants and the evening market. Everyone comments on the jewelery I bought in Nice at that market. The other bonus is that the beach is only a few minutes walk away from the apartment.

Cheers and thanks for a great place to stay.

A recommended place to stay

Review Submitted: February 11, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
We come to Nice every year and up to now have always stayed in hotels. I can safely say now that we are converts to self-catering, and will be booking this apartment again next year. It really is very central, right where you want to be. The apartment itself was very comfortable with plenty of room for the four of us. The booking process was very straight forward as was check in and check out.

Return booking

Review Submitted: January 31, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2008
Had to drop you a line to say thanks. Your apartment is great, we love the old town anyway but to be just a couple of streets from the action was lovely and quiet. We had a bit of trouble with the front door( unlocking), but it was worth the struggle. Ko was very helpful and when she said she would be there, she was. She gave us info on the local area as we walked through the town and we tried some of her recommendations.(bars and resteraunts especially) I hope we looked after your "home" as we would have looked after our own. Once again,Many Thanks Sarah and Andy
