This 4 bedroomed country villa, which sleeps up to 8, is located just 5km from the medieval castle town of Obidos, 1 hr north of Lisbon. Whether one wishes to relax by the 10m x 5m pool, go for long country walks through pine and eucalyptus woods, visit the numerous places of cultural interest, surf the wild waters of the Atlantic or go mussel picking in Obidos Lagoon, there is something for a family of all ages and interests. Just 6km from the villa is the Spa town of Caldas del Rainha with it's array of fashion shops and morning market, the outskirts of which is surrounded by many supermarkets. In the opposite direction, 5km from the villa,is the ancient walled city of Obidos Castle that draws visitors from all over the world. The local hotel 3km away has a gym and tennis courts for those wishing to stay in good shape whilst on holiday. With it's peaceful location and stunning views this villa offers the tranquillity a busy working family needs to recharge the batteries.

Casa Ponte-Velha is a comfortable home for a family of all ages with various interests. Just 5km from the ancient castle town of Obidos with it's narrow streets, cafes and restaurants, churches and little shops selling art, crafts and antiquities. Only 10 minutes from the Obidos Lagoon, the largest sea water lagoon in Europe, which opens out to the dramatic Atlantic sea and its wide, sandy beaches. The ancient port of Peniche is a surfers paradise, and beach babes flock to the white sands of the Baleal Peninsulr nearby,where the nights rock with great bars and cafes. Just 10 minutes walk at the back of the house brings one to the new Obidos Dam, a man-made lake next to which one can relax or picnic in peace but which will eventually be a water sport resort. North bound takes one to Fatima, Leira, and the busy coastal resort of Nazare, while 1hr south west lies the beautiful port of Cascais, the castle of Sintra or Lisbon itself with its cosmopolitan cafe lifestyle centre.

All bedding (duvets and blankets) and linen provided, as well as beach towels!! A travel cot and changing mat are also available for infants.

Notes:

The large garden has an open swimming pool located at the top of long, elegant steps. Therefore, although children are most welcome, parents must be aware of the dangers of the pool and steps. My 85 year old mother found the home to be most suitable, however the property is not suitable for the infirm. The property is located in a rural position,atop a hillside offering 90 degrees of beautiful views. The nearest amentieis are 6km away, therefore a car is essential. This home would be most suitable as a long term let for a family relocating to the Lisbon district seeking a family home away from the bustle of the cities, yet with all the local amenities such as schools, hospital, shops and library just 6km away in Caldas del Rainha.

LONG TERM LET

This villa is most suitable for long term let for a family relocating to Lisbon / North of Lisbon on business, or indeed for those house hunting in the district. The town of Caldas da Rainha, which is 6km from the house, has good schools, hospital, library and all the amenities required by a family living in the area. There is also an excellent school in Obidos, just 5km away. Monthly rental: 1500€, plus electricity/gas/water bills. Please contact owner for further details.

A CAR IS ESSENTIAL and can be hired on line and collected/dropped off at Lisbon airport.
