A tastefully renovated Quercy-limestone estate house set in its own secluded grounds with an 8 x 4 meter swimming pool. It enjoys lovely views, tranquility and complete privacy. The house, together with its adjacent studio, sleeps 8+ very comfortably. The house, believed originally to that of an estate manager to the local chateau, lies in the heart of the ancient region of Quercy Blanc, a few miles South of the River Lot. The property has some 8 hectares of garden, orchard and field, and, being well away from any busy road, provides a secure environment for children. A short drive leads from a very quiet country road to the house. Ideal for those seeking to get away from it all, the property provides a haven of peace and security, and offers everything one could need for a restful holiday. Standing on a small knoll amongst woods, farmlands and rolling hills, the property has been recently refurbished and is well equipped with every convenience.

The property lies in the northern part of the Lot département,­ just to the south of the Lot valley. It is readily accessible by road, rail and air with Toulouse, Bordeaux and Bergerac airports only 1¼ to 1¾ hours away. It is within easy reach of the bustling and vibrant towns of Cahors - Quercy's capital famous for its red wine - Agen, Moissac with its monastery, and a host of smaller towns and villages, many steeped in history from the Hundred Years War. Part of the Midi, the ambiance is very much 'South of France'. The people, like the climate, are exceedingly warm. The house is ideally placed for exploring a wide and varied area of South West France, including the Dordogne, Aveyron and Tarn-et-Garonne as well as the Lot valley itself. There is plenty to see and do - magnificent scenery (Lot Valley, Pech Merle); ancient bastide towns, villages, colourful markets and Romanesque churches (Tournon, Montcuq, St Cirq-Lapopie, Rocamodor, Moissac); caves and châteaux (Padirac, Bonaquil).

Additional information about rental rates

  • As indicated the above rates apply to the renting of the Main House only and are inclusive of electricity, water, and pool and garden maintenance charges but exclusive of house preparation and cleaning for which a separate non-optional one-off charge of £90 is made.
  • Where the Maison d'Amis is also rented, then an additional weekly charge of :
    £190 for the Mid 1 and 2 periods, £290 for the High 1 period, £375 for the Peak period and £250 for the High 2 period, plus a cleaning charge of £25 is made.

    Please note that the Maison d'Amis is not rented by itself.
  • Linen may be hired at a rate of £15/person. There is no charge for local telephone calls but all others are chargeable at cost. A security deposit is requested of £275; this is returnable (less any charges for telephone calls and for breakages or damages that have been incurred).

  • La Borie Basse can accommodate 8+ people with abundant ease - 6 in the main house with provision for an additional child sharing the main bedroom, and a further 2 people in the Maision d'Amis, a studio some 30 metres from the main house and adjacent to the swimming pool. (see rental options) In the Main House, gentle rising stairs lead to a spacious south-facing Master Bedroom 1 and en-suite shower room with a iron-framed double bed and room for a bed/sofa; large full-length wardrobe with shelves, chest of drawers. Bedroom 2 and en-suite bathroom with twin divan beds, wardrobe, chest of drawers. A large south-facing Bedroom 3 with a new double divan bed which can convert into two twin beds, fitted wardrobe, chest of drawers. All have wooden floors with rugs. Hairdryers are provided. Maision d'Amis studio comprises living room/bedroom with double bed, chairs and coffee table, a kitchenette and shower room with with basin and toilet. Tiled floors.

Excellent service from owners.
Beautiful house in large grounds with stunning scenery, very quiet and private.
House well equipped and furnished to very high standard, very comfy beds!
Lovely pool area with sunloungers etc
Close to lots of interesting places along the Lot valley
