Photos and Description of this Competa holiday villa Tranquil mountain villa backing onto a 'Parque Natural'

Casa Rey is a self-catering, open plan design villa, which is also the owner’s main residence when not let during the holiday season. As such the villa is very well appointed. There is a private outdoor pool available for use. The house is situated approx 2km from Competa and only 25 minutes from the coast. The property backs onto the Parque Natural of La Sierra de Tejeda, which is easily reachable by foot for those who enjoy walking and exploring this beautiful part of Axarquia. The villa offers breathtaking views down the picturesque valley to the sea. The owners have a self-contained apartment below the villa.

Nearest Motorway: Torrox Pueblo at 11 Kilometres

The villa is only a 7 minute drive from the whitewashed mountain village of Cómpeta offering an excellent selection of tapas bars and restaurants serving typical Andalucian fare. Competa is also known for its excellent local wines and each year celebrates the annual Noche del Vino (night of the wine) on 15th August for which visitors travel from miles around. There are many local bodegas selling these wines. The village has excellent facilities such as supermarkets, banks, internet cafes, pharmacies and a newsagent and bookshop as well as artisan shops selling local produce. There is also a gym in the village. The villa is 25 minutes from the beach at Torrox Costa and a 35 minute drive from the resort of Nerja, home of the famous Nerja Caves. The large shopping centre of Torre del Mar is also only 35 minutes away. The Axarquia Natural Park is only a short walk away offering hiking, mountain biking, horse trekking and off-road motorcycling all with spectacular panoramic views.

We stayed in this villa for 2 weeks in the summer and we just did not want to leave. Everything was perfect, the pool, the views are superb, the non stop sunshine and the house was very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The area is such that you can do as much or as little as you want. we spent our days lazing by the pool and our evenings sampling the excellent food in the many restaurants and tapas bars which provide great service and much cheaper prices than on the coast. It was good having the friendly owners, Debbie and Alick,close by, although they own a bookshop in Competa and are out at work for much of the time, as they gave us some excellent suggestions for day trips when we could be bothered to lever ourselves off the sun loungers. we will certainly return to this villa and recommend it to our friends and family.
