How to get there?:
TAP operate London Gatwick/ Heathrow via Lisbon to Natal or Recife all year round. Arkefly operate Amsterdam to Natal.
There are many other airlines that fly into Natal and Recife from around the world.
Airfares can vary in price considerably, watch the cost during school holidays. For information Natal is 180kms away (2 hours drive) Recife is 120km away (1.5 hours drive). Transport can be arranged from the airport to the apartment (car) approx R$ 200 (£55). Hire cars are pre-bookable and available at the airport. Car hire is cheaper in Joao Pessoa.
What to do?:
RELAX! Cabo Branco, Joao Pessoa and the surrounding area have some of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil. You will soon get into the easy pace of life, the Brazilian locals are the most friendly and helpful people you could wish to meet, and when the weekend arrives everyone wants to party. The north east of Brazil is safe, clean, free from infectious diseases and of course commands fantastic weather most of the year round. A car is recommended to appreciate areas further away, but local transport (buses, taxis, tourist trips) will allow you to get around satisfactorily. In the apartment there is a folder explaining where and how to get to various local attractions. The Brazilian tourist board have a web site - ask us for details. Places to visit include a different beach for every day of your holiday, sand bank island, historical and cultural visits.
What are the local costs?:
There are approximately R$ 3.6 to £1.00 - R$ 2.8 to €1.00.
The value of food and drink and general facilities is superb. Prices range for beach bar meals to top quality restaurant dining. As a guide--R$ 3-5 long neck bottle of beer--R$ 10-30 for bottle of wine--R$ 5-10 for starters--
R$ 10-30 for main meals--R$ 1 for a pineapple or coconut--Local spirits from R$ 6 a 1ltr bottle.
Taxis are all metered and cost around R$ 10 for a 15 min journey, buses into town cost R$ 1-2.
