Our villa is situated minutes from the small village of Arenas. Available to rent is a self-contained apartment with full private access to the outside areas. These provide plenty of space for enjoying the sunshine plus a shady area under the pergola where you can sit at the dining table and enjoy alfresco meals cooked on the BBQ. The private pool provides a welcome cooling off opportunity. The interior of the apartment is neutrally decorated and is light and cool. Please note, the main villa will NOT be in use when the apartment is rented.

Places to visit

There are a number of villages and small towns close by that are wonderful for visiting. Arenas is a traditional Spanish village with its white washed houses and winding lanes. Numerous small bars are tucked away in the side streets plus there is a bistro owned by a European couple and a pizzeria if you don't feel like cooking any evenings. Further up the mountain is the larger village of Competa, which has a number of tapas bars and restaurants. It is a little more touristy with English spoken in most places but is still managing to maintain much of its Spanish charm. Back down the mountain and North along the coast is the town of Nerja which is a busier town with a wide choice of restaurants and bars. We particularly recommend the Irish bar that overlooks the Mediterranean sea and is a perfect spot for watching the sun set. Horse-drawn carriages are also available from the town square to give you a unique tour of the area.

Shopping

There is a large covered shopping centre outside of Velez-Malaga near the motorway where you will find a hypermarket, cash points, clothes shops, cinema, restaurants etc. The town of Velez Malaga is a traditional Spanish town and has a large supermarket. Arenas itself has a small local store which sells most basic goods, a bakery that you have to visit very early in the morning and a chemist/pharmacy.

Beaches

The nearest beach is Torre del Mar which is a very wide, dark-sand beach with numerous cafes and restaurants close by. The next beach north along the coast is Caleta de Valez which has a private marina.

If youve had enough of beach holidays and want to try something a little different do visit this apartment just a stones throw from Arenas.My wife and I have recently returned after spending 2 great weeks there.The apartment and its location wanted for nothing. Idealy close enough to the main towns of Velez Malaga,Nerja and Torro del Mar yet far enough away to totaly unwind and relax.The accommodation was excellent with more than enough space both in the apartment and around the pool terrace that gave you total privacy. We loved the idea that we could bar-b-q around the pool with sheltered area to escape the sun and this is in early May and also go into the beutiful village of Arenas which is not touristy, and long may it remain so, eating at iether The Lemon tree which did excellent bar food or El Gato which did more traditional spanish food they do a Prawn pil-pil you could die for.We have traveled to many resorts Maldives,Mexico Dom-rep and many others over the years.Spain has always been our favourite and now we have found our ideal.Are we going back to what the local Brit pop have christened Brookside? you bet we are.
