Photos and Description of this Vila do Bispo holiday house Suitable for 'upwardly mobile couple' who want peace and comfort with adventure.

A beautifully decorated contemporary terraced house, on three floors. A split-level lounge leads through to a modern kitchen/diner and has a laundry at the rear in a small outhouse. The kitchen/diner has all Miele (high quality) appliances including an induction hob, self-cleaning oven, dishwasher etc...ideal for a keen cook and there is a walled roof terrace with a barbeque for al fresco dining under star studded skies and beautiful sunsets on the top floor of the house. There is a stone stairwell in the middle of the house, it has a railing on one side but is open down the middle and for this reason is not suitable for young children. The second floor bedrooms each with a balcony, have romantic four poster beds and the bathroom is a wet-room with Philip Stark fittings. This house makes a wonderful setting for a honeymooning couple or anyone who wants to get away from it all - would suit 'writer' or similar - looking for a retreat with all amenities close at hand.

Vila do Bispo is situated near the 'tip' of Portugal, it is not a tourist village yet, it is very traditional, quiet and unspoilt. The village has a supermarket and petrol station - opened last year. The main road parts here, giving easy access to both the South (Ingrina, Zavial, Barranca, Martinhal beaches)and West coasts, (Castelejo, Cordarmama, Carrapateira beaches) a popular area for surfing, paragliding, golfing, (Parque de Floresta is the nearest, with a spa), fishing, etc... It is close to Cape St Vincent - next to the lighthouse - the most westerly point before America, where tourists come to watch the beautiful sunsets, buy knitwear and brica brac from the stalls set up outside the lighthouse. Boat trips leave daily from Sagres harbour to Lagos and there are other boat trips to dolphin watch or explore the caves (grotto). Vila do Bispo is surrounded by a National Park with beautiful coastal drives and walks and stunning scenery - a must for photographers and nature lovers

Notes: Not really a child-friendly house - for small children - teenager would be fine. Non smokers preferred but there are plenty of balconies and terraces. The house looks deceptively small from the outside and is on a quiet street with outside parking.

property just as described, very tastefully decorated ,loved the four poser beds, the kitchen is very well equiped with first class equipment,so eating in is a pleasure there is every thing you require in the villiage, so you need not worry abut shopping or dinning out , theres a local market daily for veg and a bakery, the bread is good but be there early.if you do want to dine out the area is full of good places to eat wether it be pizza or a four course meal. We found many dreamy bays all with very safe bathing,although the naturists did catch us out. All i can say is please go to the area and explore you wont be disapoinnted

Wasn't the house they offer

I believe is important to emphasize some aspects that didn't work.
The most important thing is that in the moment we rent the house one of the services that it was offering was Wi Fi (very important for us because we need to work from the house) but the house had not even telephone line. The proprietor was not ready to solve the problem and she sent us to town's library. Finally she gave us some money in return.
The day we arrived the person entrusted to wait for us was not informed we were coming.
The terrace is very small with very high walls, without "nice view" and the barbecue can`t be use for cooking, it is not a place to enjoy "al fresco" dinner.
Finally to use the washing machine and the dryer you must pay an extra amount ( really crazy), next to the house there is a laundry where you can wash all your clothes and it's really cheap.
There is a TV but doesn't work, only for watching DVD.

We're sorry to hear that the house was not to your satisfaction.
We have removed the service of internet from the website and are sorry that 50 euros - on a very cheap rental for the Algarve - did not cover the inconvenience of going to the library. As explained, the phone line was removed due to abuse and unless the rent is much, much higher, it would not cover the cost of reconnecting and paying for everyone's calls.
With regard to your arrival - everyone contacts my mother direct and we make sure they have her details - it is very difficult to arrange these things from the UK.
We never offered 'a view' from the roof terrace - unless you enjoy starry skies. Could you let us know what the problem is with the bbq as it works from coal and no-one else has had a problem.
The people in the house at the moment are using the TV - so we can only assume that you didn't know how to start it and we had left instructions on how to use that. We unfortunately, had the same problem with the gas on the washing machine as the telephone - some people use the washing machine day and night and the price of a new gas bottle is so high now - we have now raised the rent to cover that cost.
We're sorry that you weren't happy, you had said to me that the house was wonderful when I spoke to you.
