Villa Suro is an ideal family base. Situated in a well established semi rural /residential area just 1.5km from the centre of the medieval village of Calonge and 4kms to the nearest beach. It has a distinctive round tower which provides a large roof terrace where you can enjoy magnigicent views of the sea and surrounding Les Gavarres hills. This villa has recently had a complete quality refurbishment throughout.Outwardly the property is typical 1970,s retro style whilst inside has been redesigned into contemporary open plan living areas, stylish bathrooms and kitchen/dining areas and four good size bedrooms.One bedroom is situated on the upper floor.This affords ideal accomodation for two families with children.The garden is 850 sq metres secure,on a level plot, with a lovely swimming pool, patio areas and trees which give ample shaded areas during summer months. Situated in a beautiful 'away from it all' location where butterflies abound and birds sing all day long..........!

The villa sits on an elevated position, on a level plot with outstanding views of the forest,olive groves and sea.Situated in a quiet semi rural location on the edge of a small urbanisation.In an area of outstanding cultural and natural beauty with a mix between the catalan countryside and nearby natural coves and beaches.Numerous beaches can be reached between 10 and 20 minutes drive.There are also beautiful unspoilt medieval villages of Pals,Pertallada and Monells close by. A huge range of restaurants, a few in walking distance but most a short drive away to experience the catalan gastronomic delights and freshly caught fish from Palamos. There is a vast network of 370kms country and coastal paths for the walkers and cyclists interspersed with exceptional views and villages along each route. The Dali Triangle sits close by. Its location and design makes for a perfect base for family holidays in order to relax around the villa/pool or embrace the delights offered in the local area.

  • Payment accepted in the quoted currency unless specifically agreed in advance. Price includes house clean on arrival and each week rental thereafter and weekly change of bedlinen and towels. A 25% non refundable deposit is required on booking the remainder to be paid at least 8 weeks prior to departure.At this time we also require a separate refundable indemnity cheque against damage posted in a sealed envelope.This cheque will be returned to you within 1 week of your return-subject to a satisfactory property inspection.
    The owners do not accept any liability for theft or personal injury to you or your possessions and you are therefore strongly advised to obtain travel insurance prior to departure.
    The price quoted is in GBP (sterling) and the exchange rate if payment is in Euro will be the commercial exchange rate of Euro to sterling on the day of reservation.

  • Both bathrooms benefit from a complete refurbishment completed July 2007.All plumbing, electrics and fixtures and fittings were replaced at this time with quality new bathroom ware fitted throughout. Both bathrooms are serviced by a large new electric hot water tank which supplies adequate amounts of hot water. On the first floor is a complete new bathroom suite, quality wall and floor tiles, the bath has a powerful shower attachment fitted over. there is also a stylish sink and taps, mirror ,wall lighting and toilet. This bathroom serves the upper floor/living area but serves the first floor bedroom as an en suite at night and mornings. On the ground floor is a large wet room all newly fitted out with quality tiles(as displayed in photograph)with powerful large shower area, quality new sink,taps and toilet. Both rooms have tilt and turn windows fitted to assist with airflow, both of which have roller mosquito blinds fitted as an integral part of double glazing frames.

  • There are a total of 4 good size bedrooms. One is situated on the first floor and is serviced by a full bathroom. This room is accessed from the lounge/dining area. The other bedrooms are situated on the ground floor. The bedrooms naturally caters for 8 persons however three of the ground floor bedrooms are large enough to house a cot in addition to the normal beds and one of these has sufficient room for a double bed , cot and a single bed as required. This can be arranged with owner prior to arrival at additional cost.The ground floor bedrooms remain cool in summer. The 3 ground floor bedrooms are serviced by a bathroom/wet room which has a powerful shower area w/c and sink. The whole villa has just had quality aluminum double glazing fitted throughout with 'tilt and turn' fixings to most windows. All bedroom/bathroom windows are fitted with roller mosquito blinds as an integral part of the double glazing frames. Single bedded rooms can be arranged with beds together or separate

Notes: The villa is located on the edge of a small residential area embracing olive groves and natural surrounding catalan countryside,and is ideally suited to family based holidays. It has a 850sq metre secure garden.There is a choice of the first floor balcony, a roof terrace, garden patio or lounge /dining area in which to dine or relax.There is an 8 x 4 metre swimming pool and spacious surrounding sun patio which is private from the road.The pool is 1 metre depth at the shallow end and deepens to 2 metres .All within 10 minutes drive there is a plethora of coves and beaches or beautiful countryside and walks.Fine cuisine is also available in any of the restaurants/ tapas bars in the surrounding towns and villages.A little further afield is the old city of Girona(30 mins) or Barcelona (60 miles).Also featuring high on the local itinery is a visit to the Salvador Dali Teatre-Museu at Figeres, & Dali,s home at Port Ligat or Castell de Pubol at La Pera. Winter activities: The rugged Pyrenees mountains are 1 and 1/2 hours drive and is attracting more skiers each year, during the winter months. Baqueira-Beret in the Val d,Aran is one of Spains best ski resorts. Other popular activities around the Pyrenees include mountain climbing ,white water rafting and trekking. The cost implications for ski passes are significantly cheaper than the Alps and other mountain ski slopes situated in the near continent of europe. The principality of Andorra which sits between Catalonia and France is one and a half hours drive away and offers further skiing oppurtunities and breathtaking scenery. Here you can also experience a dip in the mineral waters at the Caldea Spa complex or a drive across the spectacular Port d,Envalira pass,which is the highest in the Pyrenees. There is also good boar hunting and fishing that takes place throughout the rural areas.

Golf around Calonge: There are a selection of 9 good quality golf courses, most within 1/2 an hours drive of this villa.The prices are generally cheaper than the Costa del Sol but are in no way inferior. Local clubs include Club de Golf D,Aro which is 15 minutes,Club de Golf Costa Brava at Santa Cristina.Voted as in top 100 in europe and home of previous spanish open is Golf de Pals around 30 minutes, as is Golf Serres de Pals and the 36 hole Emporda golf club which has a mixture of 9 holes of wooded, links,water hazards and open choices.Around 45 minutes away is the PGA Catalnya which again is of the highest quality and previous home to Spanish open and the Sarazon Open.

Activities and interests all year: Snorkelling and diving. The rockier parts of this coast line lends itself to memorable sights of magnificent underwater flora and fauna. The Illes Medes, off L,Estartit, which is a natural park made up of 7 islets that form the extension into the sea of the Montgri Massif offers arguably, the best diving in all of Spain. From here you can organise snorkelling and diving trips including the hire of all gear. Birdwatching-there is a great concentration of birdlife that gathers in the coastal park of Parc Natural dels Aiguamolls de l,Emporda. There is a very large network of 370kms of coastal, country and mountain dedicated footpaths, all of which are maintained and sign posted throughout this region.Distances and approximate timings are offered.They embrace the exceptional beauty offered by this area interspersed by unspoilt medieval villages and churches and wonderful places for refreshment.If you prefer to cycle these routes then cycle hire is available from nearby San Antoni.

We have been renting villas/apartments for 7 people and getting there under our own steam for 10 years now starting when the kids ranged from 0 to 12. My wife, I and the "kids" agree however that Villa Suro was the best ever.

It's difficult to single out a specific reason why, but it was a combination of the location, the views, the pool, and the excellent accommodation.

If my wife had her way I would be negotiating to buy it off you right now !!

The information pack that you sent us was spot on and we used many of the restaurants that you recommended. Our particular favourites were La Salsa and the hotel Castell d'Emporda. Having young adults in tow meant that we also enjoyed the Mafia themed El Pardrino pizza restaurant in St Antonio, on the front to the left. However in reality we ate out every night and didn't have a bad meal.

The beaches at La Fosca and Lla Franc were fantastic as was the view from the lighthouse at San Sebastian and the restaurant at Romanya de Selva.

But the best bit was the Villa itself where we spent most of our time lounging by the pool with a book. The views were terrific, the accommodation fantastic, with lots of places for a family of 7 to retreat when they fall out, and re-join to make up or just merely get out of the sun for a few minutes. The beds were excellent quality with proper cotton sheets instead of the cheaper stuff you normally get. The layout of the kitchen, which we used for breakfast every morning was particularly good.

My wife and I enjoyed a leisurely stroll down and back up the track and "Mount Kilimanjaro" every morning to get the fresh bread from the supermarket, whilst the kids slept. It wasn't easy, but it was great exercise.

I really don't have a negative thing to say, and at the moment am currently considering whether we want to book in advance for next year. My only reservation right now is how many of the "kids" will still want to go on holiday with Mum and Dad and/or whether they will want to bring boyfriends/girlfriends.

Our week in Calonge

After a bit of difficulty in finding the Villa,we arrived as it was starting to get dark,the instructions on obtaining entry were clear and we were inside in a trice.There was even a bottle of bubbly in the 'fridge.The children in our party loved the pool and at times even let the adults use it!.There were even some pool toys and li-lo's to use.There is a good restaurant,Rio d'Oro,within walking distance it is not expensive,the service is good and the food is wonderful!Within ten minutes drive there are plenty of good restaurants if you really don't feel up to doing a BBQ The local supermarkets are well stocked and very reasonable.We would certainly go back to this property...but for a longer stay!

An excellent place to stay

The condition of this property really is excellent and it has great flexibility whether you are looking for a family holiday or a relaxing break. We stayed in Villa Suro for 2wks during Easter 2008. We visited all the resorts along the coast and went to Barcelona for a day trip on the train. Our party of 6 comprised of my parents-in-law, my self, my wife and our two boys (aged 6 & 8) and we had a very relaxing holiday. Flights from the UK to Girona are quite cheap and the airport is only a short car ride away. The beach is within 15mins drive along quiet roads. A small supermarket is only 5 mins away for forgotten essentials but the larger, value-for-money Carrefour supermarket is around 15mins drive, near to the beach, which is ideal if you need to pick something up o the way home.
