This new villa is available for rental early 2008. The first floor apartment boasts 180 degree views of the sea and will be ideal for not only a romantic break but also family holidays. It is ideally situated 10 mins from the airport but without the noise and also 10mins from Argostoli and Lassi. It is furnished to the highest standards that you would expect. This first floor apartment has an indoor dining area for 6 people and also an alfresco dining area for 6 people on the balcony overlooking the pool. The private pool and BBQ area is shared with the apartment below. There is an iron/ironing board, washer and dishwasher along with microwave in the villa. We can cater for larger parties up to 18 people, with the Villa below and the adjacent property. Ideal for weddings or family holidays.

The quiet relaxed village of Kaligata is situated in the south of the Island in the beautiful area of Avithos. Almost everything you require will be found in this region. Whether it's Avithos beach which can be reached within 5 minutes by car or for the more athletic a brisk 15 minute walk through the olive groves and many private vineyards. The picturesque village of Kourkoumelata is well worth a visit with it's pastel coloured properties and manicured gardens. To the north of the villa you can admire the natural beauty of Mount Ainos rising into the blue cloudless skies.

Kalligata: Villa Helios is set in the picturesque village of Kalligata. A focal point is Marina's Bar in the centre of Kourkoumalata. There are fruit and olive trees around the area which give a very Ionian feel to the place. Vineyards are everywhere to be seen as you will discover, as this was the home of the Calliga Winery a favorite for the Robola wines. You will see the white church used by locals and visiting holiday makers and also the children's play area near by, ideal for the younger generation. Within the village there is a well stocked supermarket with a small cafe' bar. The Lucky Strike Bar is ideal for snacks, a game of pool, Wii and internet access should you need contract with the real world! Just 15 minutes walk away is Avithos beach with its views of Zakynthos and Dhias. Here you will find two lovely bar/restaurant for refreshments. The owner makes his own wine which he is extremely proud of, you should find a bottle or two in the Villa for sampling.

Surrounding area: A car is recommended for your stay in Kefalonia but alternatively there is the local English speaking taxi service: Airport - 10 minutes, Argostoli - 15 minutes. Argostoli is the capital of the island and has the most delightful square with many bars and restaurants to choose from. Around the square there are shops for the ladies (and gentlemen) with an eye for a bargain. Occasionally you will share the port with the many cruise liners that are now visiting Argostoli. Lassi - 10 minutes. Here is one of the most fabulous beaches in the area. There are water sports available for the energetic amongst you should you wish to indulge. Night life here is for all ages and is very relaxed. Mrytos Beach - 50 minutes. Views to treasure and well worth the journey. Fiscardo - 65 minutes. A popular resort at the north of the island. Assos - 60 minutes. A beautiful bay with quaint waters edge restaurants. Agia Efimia - 60 minutes, Scala - 60 minutes.

Three peaceful weeks with family and friends...

We spent a really nice holiday in Villa Helios the last 3 weeks of August 2009 (this was our 12th summer holiday in Kefalonia!).
Villa Helios is fully equipped, situated in a very beautiful location, so close to many nice beaches: you can easily reach Avithos, Ammes, Ai-Helis, Minies beaches, Ag. Thomas, the little Spartia and Pessada beaches...
Dining in Kefalonia: in Argostoli port, PortSide (in front of Port Authority at the end of the seaside promenade): try the fantastic grilled octopus!
If you don't care driving a bit, there's a lovely fish tavern in Ag. Kiriaki: you can only eat their fishing of the day!
On the little beach of Ag. Thomas (end of the road on left) there is a terrace on the sea: the owner is Alexandros, You must try the best stuffed tomatoes (Ghemistà) and the best fried cod-fish served with smashed garlic potatoes (bakalado-skordalià) of the entire island.
We hope to be back very soon: Villa Helios, we already miss you!

We stayed in Villa Helios in June 09 and found the upstairs apartment exceptionally clean and well stocked and furnished.

The pool was very well maintained, and was refreshing after a hard day at the beach!

The location is really exceptional; close to the airport, but not noisy, close enough to Argostoli to eat in if you want a change, but with 2 tavernas in walking distance just by the beach. It is an excellent base to explore the island from.

The owners were both attentive and informative and had ordered 2 full weeks of sunshine with not a drop of rain..thank you Joanne we will ask for the same weather next time as well please!

This is a really excellent villa and we will be back again to sit on the upstairs balcony with a glass of wine, watching the sun set and wondering if we should try for 3 weeks next time!

After staying at Villa Helios in the summer of '08 I was pleasantly surprised with position and aspect of the property, it was lovely in the quiet village of Kaligata.
The apartment had everything to hand, from DVD and CD's to a chiller bag for the beach.
One of our favourite places to eat was The Captains Table at Argostoli. Cant wait until we return!
