Our 2 Bedroomed Gite is available all year & we offer you a warm welcome! Immaculate inside with all new kitchen & bathroom fittings. Very large garden with views over the vines & countryside, yet 2 minutes walk from the local boulangerie,Le Jardin restaurant, post office & convenience store. A lovely idyllic and peaceful location. Ideal for families, couples, or even those house hunting in the area!! We are flexible in that you can rent our gite on a nightly or weekly basis. Duras is our local Bastide town with it's own 13th century ch?au, restaurants, cafes & bars, small boutiques offering gifts & clothing, pharmacy, butchers, etc. There are lots of activities nearby, walking, cycling, sightseeing, fishing, tennis, golf, small lakes with beach areas, many ch?aux to visit, wine tasting, & kayaking. We are just 15 minutes from the Dordogne River, 15 mins from the River Lot. You can relax on the terrace, soak up the sun, & sample the local wine & take a dip in the Plunge Pool.

Le Bonté is situated in the small village of Villeneuve de Duras with lovely surrounding views. We are a 10 minute drive from Duras, 35 minutes from Bergerac & 1 hour 15 minutes to Bordeaux. We are situated in the 'Golden Triangle' of Aquitaine meaning that we are within a 10 minutes of the Gironde & the Dordogne & a short drive to the splendid market town of Duras, Lot et Garonne. Eymet; Monsegur; Saint Foy la Grande; Miramont; Bergerac; Marmande are also near by. The beautiful beaches of Archachon, Biscarosse are about 1 hour 40 minutes away. There are many vineyards that offer free wine tasting. Our nearest is Grande Mayne. Great walks in & around the area, along with good treks for cyclists. Horseriding in Duras. Great restaurants in Duras, Monsegur, Eymet, Monastier. There are Lakes with small beaches & childrens play equipment at St Sernin, Lou Gratte & Pomport. Golf at Vigiers & Tombeboeuf. During the summer, there are many village fetes to choose from & are a must!!

Notes to the rental rates

  • £100 deposit is required on booking. 6 weeks before your arrival date, the balance will need to be paid. On arrival we will require a £100 breakages deposit. This will be refunded to you in full on your departure (depending on no breakages!!).
    If you require Breakfast, this will be a continental breakfast of croissants, pain au chocolate, yoghurt & cereal, juice, tea and coffee. This will be charged at 5 euros per person. Just let us know the day before if you would like breakfast.

  • Bedroom 1 has a lovely pine double bed with bedside table and bedside lamp. There is a full length mirror fitted to the inside of the wardrobe door. Views out onto the back garden and surrounding vineyards. Both bedrooms have lots of storage space for clothing, suitcases, etc. Bedroom 2 has 2 lovely single pine beds but there is plenty of room for a travel cot which we will provide for you. Bedroom 2 has views onto the front garden and the cypress trees running along side the driveway. Both bedrooms have electric central heating in case the temperature dips! We can supply you with mosquito nets, although mosquito's aren't a big problem here. Both bedrooms have outside shutters which you can close/ part close allowing you to leave the windows open if you wish. Inside it's nice and cool in the summer and warm in the winter. We have a sofa bed in the lounge which would accommodate a 5th person easily!!

Le Bonté has a new fully equipped kitchen. Fridge with freezer compartment; single electric fan oven & grill, ceramic glass electric hob, cooker hood, freezer, sink with drainer,microwave. Plenty of cupboard space with all the necessary plates, dishes, cutlery needed along with cooking utensils. A washing machine & drying line is available. Coffee maker, Kettle and toaster. This is a self catering holiday, but a continental breakfast can be available. Outside there are two seating areas, (one covered) & both with views out onto the vineyards. There are two tables with 8 chairs & parasol, along with 4 sun loungers. There is a Plunge Pool to help you cool down on those hot summer days! We have lots of outdoor toys for children to play with!! Le Bonté is a child friendly environment with plastic cups & plates, bath toys, indoor toys, along with childrens DVD's if they manage to get bored! There is lots to do if you want, or you can relax & do nothing! Smoking allowed outside

Ferry and car

Best deals are usually found at Speed ferries who sail from Dover to Bolougne. The journey by car from Bolougne normally takes about 8 hours. Tolls are not too expensive and the French Motorways are generally very good, and as at Jun 2008 petrol averages at 1.44 Euro a litre and Diesel 1.38. 95% of lorries are not allowed to travel on a Sunday in France, so the roads are even quieter. Some people sail to Le Havre. It is personal taste at the end of the day, but it does mean less driving, but about the same time to get here. Eurostar is also a good option!

Linen, Towels and Cleaning

We think our rates are reasonable and so that we can keep our rates low, we ask you to clean the property on your day of departure. We would like you to leave Le Bonté in the same clean condition as you found it. If you would rather not clean the house, because time is precious, etc, then we would ask you to pay 50 euros towards the cleaning. Linen and Towels are provided, so there is something less for you to pack! If there is anything else you need before your arrival, then give us a call and we'll see about getting it for you! Tea, Coffee, Milk and sugar will be available to you on the first day of your arrival.... not to mention the bottle of wine!!! We look forward to seeing you at Le Bonté!

Golf Information:

Vigiers Golf Hotel and Restaurant, Monestier. A Beautiful 18 hole golf course with beautiful surroundings. The hotel offers other facilities like spas, massage, beauty therapy etc as well as a restaurant that serves lovely food. Vigiers takes about 20 minutes in the car. Tombebeouf, Lot et Garonne. Takes about 35-45 minutes in the car. Restaurant and other facilities nearby.

We spent a week in Le Bonté in April and the weather was not brilliant, but being able to return to this gite each evening was a pleasure despite this. It was probably the best appointed gite we have enjoyed and we felt completely at home from the moment we arrived. The warmth of Michelle's welcome and her touches around the house contributed to this. As we were looking at properties during our stay, access to wi-fi and the telephone were added bonuses. Take the advice of the visitor pack with regards to places to visit and eat. And enjoy every chance to sit on the terrace, in the warmth of the evening sun, looking out over the vines with a glass of Cote de Duras.
