Cas-Gwent House is a traditional 4 bedroom, double fronted 'house of character' dating back to the mid 1850's. It has been lovingly restored and most of the original features have been retained to capture the atmosphere and feeling of a quaint bygone era. High ceilings, wooden beams, window shutters, the stone stairway and stone arches have all been conserved to make this a self catering holiday rental with a difference. The downstairs incorporates an eight seater dining table, a TV viewing area with a comfortable settee and another lounge area with three-piece leather suite. A newly fitted and fully equipped kitchen overlooks the beautiful Mediterranean garden, with it's barbecue and plunge pool. There is a downstairs toilet with washbasin. Upstairs the very attractive main double bedroom has a large en-suite. There is a another delightful double bedroom and a twin room that share the second bathroom. A further spacious double bedroom with en-suite is at the top of the house.

The house is within easy walking distance of no more than 200 yards from the picture postcard settings of both Spinola Bay and Balluta Bay. St.Julians is famous for it's excellent restaurants, it's bars and coffee shops. There is a large swimming pool at Balluta Bay called Neptunes where you can pay a small daily rate to enjoy the facilities and swim and sunbathe next to the sea. The newly built Bay Street Shopping Center is only a further 10 minutes walk from Spinola Bay and well worth a visit. Apart from the many shops there are more bars and restaurants, a sixteen-screen cinema and a bowling alley. Bay Street backs on to the Paceville area, which is the capital of Malta's nightlife Sliema is a pleasant 25-minute stroll down the promenade in the opposite direction. Here you will find another good shopping centre, more excellent bars and restaurants. The Maltese buses run to every destination all over the island and you can catch one on the sea front very near to the house.

Notes: Cas-Gwent house is ideal for a family holiday or a large party. We also have many couples looking for that romantic quiet vacation, away from it all. In fact, the house is ideal for everyone, young or old. Everyone loves the garden in particular which is perfect for a barbecue and eating outside on those warm evenings with a glass or two of the local wine. Or spend a lazy afternoon swopping between the sunbeds and the plunge pool. The house couldn't be in a better location, in a quiet side street but only minutes away from all the lively attractions of St.Julians.

Airport pick up: We will arrange airport pick up for you. Lino who is a licensed taxi driver will meet you at the airport with the keys to the house. The airport is about a 15 to 20 minute drive from the house . Lino can carry up to 4 people plus luggage in his car and the standard fare is 20 Euros one-way regardless of the number of passengers he can fit in. If your party is a large one ,Lino will arrange for another car to accompany him when meeting you and there would be another fare of 20 Euros to pay to the second driver. Lino is also available for daily taxi work. Phone him on 9984 4783, he is always very friendly, prompt and reliable and you won't find anyone cheaper on the island.

Supermarket: Shopping for groceries is not a problem with the Park Towers Supermarket only a five minute walk away on the sea front. There is a delicatessen and butcher within the supermarket and they also sell alcohol. They do a very good next day delivery service so it is worth going there at the start of your holiday and you can stock up with all the necessities. When placing a larger order you will qualify for a useful free gift too. They have a large selection of local Maltese wines that are very good and competitively priced. Don't forget to order a few bottles for those dinner parties.

Telephones at the house.: There is a pay as you go mobile phone at the house for the use of our guests. Please feel free to carry it around with you. It is very useful for local calls, taxis, take away food etc and not too expensive to phone back home. The number is (00 356) 7993 1159 and it takes Go Mobile credits that you can buy from any of the local shops. There is a land line at the house. The number is (00 356) 21 353226. This also works on a pay as you go system and accepts Easyline credits, which again can be purchased from local shops. Both the mobile and land line telephones work for incoming calls even if they have no credits. Please pass these numbers on to your friends and family if you wish them to keep in contact with you while you are away.

I stayed at Cas-Gwent at the end of April. I have been going to Malta for many years and this was the best property I have ever stayed in. Beautifully renovated, yet still with much charm, providing all you could need and more. The house is very comfortable, in a good location, a short walk from the seafront, supermarket and bus stop. The garden is an added bonus for relaxing in, with loungers, dining table and chairs and built in BBQ and we made good use of it. It's a little sun trap. Our party consisted of adults and April was not the month for using the plunge pool, but it is deep and so parents of young children would need to be vigilant, as with any water feature. All in all a very enjoyable week and I would not hesitate to return.

Having just returned from this beautiful house after a fortnight's stay I would recomend this property to all ages. Our party consisted of two thirty somethings, and three fifty somethings, even for younger people it is ideally situated as it is only a maximum of 10 minutes walk to Paceville.

The description of the house is spot on.

I found it ideal as you didn't need to hire a car, and the bus service is so regular (and an adventure at times, you should take a bus ride).

Neil's information before we left was a great help as regards to supermarkets etc. Also the arranging of a taxi to pick us up at the airport was one less headache. This is a great personal touch.

St Julians is a beautiful area, the house is a short walk to either Spinola or Balutta Bay. Sliema is also within walking distance.

It had been 10 years since I had visited Malta and not a great deal around the St Julians area had changed, although Paceville has been extensively developed.

Great house would love to visit again.

We stayed at this beautiful house in St Julians in September. The house was perfect and clean. The back garden was absolutely beautiful with the palm trees and plunge pool. The bedrooms were very clean and tidy. Overall the house has been maintained to a high standard. I holidayed with my Husband, Son, niece and their 2 friends who are 19 & 20. They also had a wonderful holiday there as it is so close to all the amenities of St Julians. Would definitely visit again. Neil the owner and Joe were very helpful in their advice.

My wife and I have just returned from an excellent two-week stay at Cas-Gwent House. We have been to Malta a few times over quite a few years and can honestly say this is the best accommodation we have stayed in.

The situation of the house is perfect, as you are only a short walk from the seafront, bars, restaurants, supermarket and the local bus services.

The house has been beautifully restored, with the garden area particularly nice, perfect for having breakfast or enjoying drinks in the cool of the evening. The kitchen is well supplied with everything you would need. One suggestion would be for some plastic glasses for outside use to avoid accidents with glass in the garden and pool area.

The temperature when we were there was constantly in the 30’s and it got very warm in the secluded garden area as there wasn’t much wind. We decided to go up and sit on the roof terrace and it was a little bit cooler with a nice breeze blowing. In the evenings we would go on the roof for a perfect view of the fireworks displays at the local festas.

The house itself was kept cool as there are plenty of fans in all the rooms and there is plenty of wardrobe and drawer space in the bedrooms.

We will return to Malta again soon and hopefully stay at Cas-Gwent House.

My Partner, son, father and myself rented this property for four days. It was our first time in Malta. The country and the people, beautiful and friendly. What made it even better, was that our accommodation was home away from home. It was well maintained, clean, had all the commodities. Shops, bars, restaurants are all within walking distance(about a five minute walk). We will be visiting Malta again nd Cas Gwent House will be our first choice. Always.
