villa Casa Hana - June 2008

The Algarve is a lovely destination & we have spent several excellent holidays in the area. The villa is well located. This villa is advertsed as "luxury" but smelt badly of damp on arrival due to a leak into one of the downstairs bedrooms from the terrace above. There was water damage in the fitted cupboards as a result & an unpleasant musty smell in our child's bedroom. The decor in the villa living areas is very tired & furniture very old. The outside area was lovely although the patio needs re-laying. The main pool is a good size and the children's pool an excellent bonus for young kids. The house keeper Alex is fantastic. SUMMARY - ok & if the weather is kind you will have a good stay, but the property needs re-freshing inside and if it rains it will smell musty.
Owner's Response: Unfortunately, when it rains in Portugal, it really rains and is best described as a 'monsoon'. The previous week we experienced a 'monsoon' and a half. Where many of our other Villas were actually flooded, Villa Casa Hana however, merely experienced water ingress to just one of the Bedrooms.
The problem has now been rectified, with a little help from the blue skies and extra ordinary sunny weather. As for the 'old and tired furniture', we accept that to some people, antique style aged leather Chesterfield furniture could give some people the impression that the furniture is old and tired. Others, who have purchased new this style of furniture, the comfort factor is usually the over riding factor.
