A private villa on a secluded hillside, Hakuna Matata sits surrounded by the lush tropical jungle of St John's Virgin Islands National Park, above the incredible blue waters of Cinnamon Bay. Hakuna Matata is one of St John's most luxurious & popular villas, and features dramatic arches framing breathtaking views of Drake's Passage, and the ribbon of islets & cays of the neighboring British Virgin Islands. Native stonework, classical pillars, vaulted ceilings, fountains, and 13'-carved wooden entry doors add majesty & elegance to this luxury villa's old-world ambience.
Hakuna Matata is fully air conditioned, including the Great Room, bedrooms & kitchen. The Great Room, with its beautiful beamed ceilings, is furnished with antiques & collectibles lovingly gathered from all over the world. The professional kitchen features a central island, a Thermidor gas range with copper hood, & Sub-Zero fridge, and opens onto a covered alfresco dining terrace overlooking the sweeping views.
Four bedroom suites, each with private terrace & ocean view, are situated on 3 levels. One bedroom is on the main courtyard level, on the opposite end from the Great Room. Stairs in the courtyard lead to 2 upper-level bedrooms (including the Master), and a curved stone stairway leads from the front terrace down to the pool area, lawn, and 4th bedroom suite. The fully-screened bedrooms are spacious and all feature private oceanview terraces & outdoor showers.
A dramatic waterfall-fed heated pool, as well as hot tub, will delight guests of all ages.
Hakuna Matata is an approximate 15-minute drive to Cruz Bay town, with charming shops, boutiques, restaurants, & interisland ferries. Villa guests have several options for accessing the fabled North Shore beaches: a pleasant drive through the Virgin Islands National Park leads to unspoiled Francis Bay (20 minutes); Hawksnest Beach may also be reached in 20 minutes, via Cruz Bay; and alternatively, for the faint-of-heart, a direct but rugged jeep road leads downhill from the villa to Cinnamon Bay (10-minute drive, 4-wheel-drive required). Four-wheel-drives are actually recommended for any guest on St John due to the island's terrain and winding roads.
