Sol y Sombra is a deluxe private beach estate, surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Carved Indonesian gates lead through luxuriant landscaping to the villa's 4 pavilions that border a central coralstone terrace & large infinity-edge pool. An expanse of green lawn beyond leads to the exotic boulders & white-sand beaches for which Virgin Gorda is so justly famous.
This villa is distinguished by sumptuous Thai teak furnishings adorned with rich fabrics, handcrafted mahogany windows & doors, handsome native stonework, cool gold-hued coralstone flooring (so kind to bare feet, inside & out!), and a charming collection of exotic artifacts gracing garden nooks & crannies. Sol y Sombra's spacious main pavilion offers a large Great Room with state-of-the-art entertainment system, shaded terrace with wet bar, formal dining room seating 12 (with additional seating for 8 just outside on the covered terrace), and a fabulous gourmet kitchen equipped with icemaker, Viking gas range, wine fridge, espresso machine & SubZero/Cuisinart appliances. Adjoining is an office complete with computer (DSL line, Wi-Fi, printer, fax, cable TV) & powder room. An open-air gym features exercise equipment & satellite TV.
At one end of the pool is the 2nd pavilion, offering a king master suite with its own covered verandah, walk-in closet & exotic alfresco shower looking out onto a burst of tropical flowers. At the other end of the pool is Sol y Sombra's 3rd pavilion, ingeniously built around huge smooth boulders. This pavilion offers 2 bedrooms, one of which is a pool-level twin-bedroom suite with private verandah. Above, via a staircase curving around a mammoth boulder, is the unique 2nd master suite. This dramatic room opens out to a private pergola terrace with hammocks, offering guests breathtaking views of the famed Baths & the array of islands across Sir Francis Drake Channel.
Sol y Sombra's Tennis Suite, a self-contained guest house, is located behind the Great Room pavilion & is adjacent to the private lighted tennis court. It features a king bedroom suite bordered by a verandah, from which a circular staircase climbs to a cool rooftop aerie. An adjacent sitting room has 2 twin daybeds, cable TV & kitchenette.
Your complete privacy at Sol y Sombra is assured: no staff live on the estate (although a cook is available upon request at an additional charge), and the property is fully-fenced & gated. The white sands & exotic boulders of Little Trunk Bay run the length of the property, and the Baths (one of the Caribbean's unique geological features) are nearby. Virgin Gorda's restaurants, shops, watersports & interisland ferries are all a 5-minute drive from the villa, and renowned Little Dix Bay resort is 8 minutes away.
