Island Sun is a stunning 4-bedroom, 5-bath villa nestled 800' above Cinnamon Bay in Estate Catherineberg, surrounded by the Virgin Islands National Park. The villa features sweeping views of the Caribbean, north shore beaches, the British Virgin Islands, and Sir Francis Drake Channel with its myriad of sailboats. The historic Catherineberg sugar mill ruins are a short walk away.
Island Sun's open-living design offers an array of spacious, private living areas, including 2 outdoor terraces, covered porch, and indoor & outdoor dining rooms. Comfortable seating is provided in the plantation-style Great Room, with mesmerizing views overlooking the pool on one side and the BVIs on the other. A gourmet kitchen and elegant dining area complete the setting of the Great Room.
Four similarly-sized ensuite bedrooms, each with ceiling fans & private balcony, are located on 3 different levels. The 1st bedroom is off the Great Room; the Master bedroom (with large rooftop sundeck) is accessed via exterior stairs to the 2nd floor; the 3rd bedroom is conveniently located in a poolside bungalow; and the 4th is privately tucked away on a lower level near the spa (this latter bedroom may be made up as a King or 2 twins).
A heated swimming pool (24' x 12') catches the sun all day long, and is the perfect complement to the nearby hot tub which overlooks the ocean - there's even a hammock for afternoon siestas! Additionally, villa guests are provided with beach chairs, coolers & floats. Island Sun also takes advantage of its 800'-high elevation so that air conditioning is not needed: the cooling tradewinds & villa ceiling fans provide more-than-adequate ventilation for guests's comfort.
Island Sun is an approximate 15-minute drive to Cruz Bay town, with charming shops, boutiques, restaurants, & interisland ferries. Villa guests have several options for accessing the fabled North Shore beaches: a pleasant drive through the Virgin Islands National Park leads to unspoiled Francis Bay (20 minutes); Hawksnest Beach may also be reached in 20 minutes, via Cruz Bay; and alternatively, for the faint-of-heart, a direct but rugged jeep road leads downhill from the villa to Cinnamon Bay (10-minute drive, 4-wheel-drive required). Four-wheel-drives are actually recommended for any guest on St John due to the island's terrain and winding roads.
For larger groups, Island Sun is located near Le Chateau (CT CHA), and in the same general neighborhood as Mango Bay (CT MAG) & Hakuna Matata (CT HAK).
