Banat is a small hamlet in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France surrounded by the Pyrenees boasting the most amazing views in all directions. The house is situated in farm land with 5 other houses, one being occupied full time. Banat is a 7 minuet drive up the mountain from the main road with only one other hamlet further on. It is the perfect place for walkers and bikers or for those that would like total relaxation in a rare location with stunning views and all your needs close by. The house is newly renovated (2007) all appliances and furniture, unless antique, are brand new. It has a fantastic large kitchen seating 8 people with 3 bedrooms one en suite another with a terrace and breathtaking views of the Pyrenees the third, a multi functioning room, great bunk beds for the children and a brand new pull down double bed. The house can comfortably sleep 6 but accommodate 8, the living area is pure comfort leading onto the main terrace.

Banat is a truly rare location giving all the benefits of a secluded spot with the most outstanding views being directly within the Pyrenees mountain countryside but within 10 minutes you can be wondering through the medieval town of Prats-de-mollo with all its shops and restaurants. the house is surrounded by the most beautiful of the Catalan towns and villages Amelie-les-bains a spa town with Ceret further along the road famous for its modern art museum and Saturday market not to be missed. The border to Spain can be crossed via the motorway from Ceret or by a stunning 20 minuets mountain drive finding yourself in Spain offering the most amazing beaches less than 1hour 30 mins away. there is no place better than to take advantage of the great outdoors walking, hiking, mountaineering and simply fantastic cycling country, or relax at home in the pool and garden planning your next days adventure. The mountains can offer a real escape from the sweltering heat of the towns and villages

Cycling, Skiing, golf, canoeing: Pyrenees- Orientals is well known for its road cycling, offering well maintained roads surrounded by outstanding views. Banat is the perfect location turn right from the house and you have a mountain climb turn left descending for a flatter ride, you will meet many others along the way. A world class 18 hole golf course at Domaine De Falgons, 20 minuets away in the heart of the roussillion forest with spa, restaurant and golf school and of course amazing mountain views. Skiing is another of the areas popular sports with Val Ter 2000, 11/2 hours drive, Andorra 2 hours drive, many others to choose from in-between. Canoeing and rafting can be found on the river Tech as well as pony trekking in Arles Sur Tech

Beaches and Swimming pools: We are spoilt for choice when it comes to swimming. All the surrounding towns and villages have well maintained very child friendly swimming pools, our closest being Prats-De-mollo 10 minuets away a large pool for the serious swimmers and a great children’s pool. Arles Sur Tech offers the same but can be slightly busier, Amelie-Les-Bains also has a great pool with the added extra of high diving boards. It is always worth taking your swimming bag as most of the towns and villages have very assessable well maintained friendly communal pools and you never know when the fancy might take you to dip your toes in the river Tech along the way. Beaches can be found just over an hour away, popular resorts are Argles, St Cyprian, being so close to the border there are many Spanish beach options which are well worth exploring.
