Nice holiday apartment

Great location for sampling the delights of old Nice. Restaurants and bars a plenty. Appartment is first class and well appointed with quality fixtures.Only downsides are no wardrobe but there are coat stands which do the job and the 90 or so steps to the appartment but they do help keep you fit and well worth it to sit on the balcony and over look the square below. The musts whilst you are there are the 1€ bus ride to Monte Carlo, Moules and Frites from L'Abbeye restaurant opposite the appartment and tapas in the Snug and Cellar. It truly is a great base to wander the delightful street of old Nice, climb the hill to the old castle remains and the park that provide stunning views.

An excellent apartment, exactly as advertised, and very good value for money. Like some other recent reviewers we were a little concerned about a previous negative review, and we want to add our positive feedback. The negative review really seemed to be describing a different apartment from the one we stayed in!
Sharon and Gordon did an outstanding job in meeting us and getting us settled in, and really we have no criticisms apart from the weather.
They recommended the restaurant La Voglia which along with Bistrot d'Antoine are local and well worth a try.

Have just returned from a week in this apartment (17 - 24 Aug). This was booked some months ago, and I was very concerned, just before we left for our holiday, to read the unfavouable review submitted by Paul and Elaine (see elsewhere on this page), concerning the lack of air conditioning, however we can confirm that the AC works very efficiently.

Overall, I would echo all previous positive comments about this appartment, especially its location, which is absolutely fabulous (and I believe that there are only 89 steps, not 98 as previously stated. As someone in their mid 50's, who is not the fittest specimen alive, I did have some reservations about the fifth floor location, but the steps are not steep or narrow, and not a serious problem)

The only reason that we are not giving this apartment 5 stars is the description in the advertisement of "cable TV" being available. Whilst the purpose of our (and we suspect your) holiday is not to sit in front of the TV, keeping up to date with Coronation Street, it would have been good, after an evening of merriment in Nice, to be able to sit down with a glass of wine and watch something interesting on TV. Unfortunately, of the 24 channels available, 22 are French, 1 is Italian, the 24th is CNN, which is heavily biased towards American news. We found this rather disappointing.

Sharon, the agent for this property, was most helpful with any questions that we had, and was available whenever she was needed. We were met at the apartment personally by her and her husband. I am sure that they will be more than happy to help with any queries that you might have during your stay, and are always open to suggestions about the apartment, both negative as well as positive.

Finally, a good word for by far the best restaurant that we ate in. Le Comptoir is only about 200 yards down the road from the Cours Saleya "food factory", but we thoroughly enjoyed the food there. It is a little more expensive than most of the touristy places, but well worth a visit as a treat!
