Evia holiday villa: Politika

I have recently returned from a two week holiday at this wonderful villa near the very rustic town of Politika. The Villa is set into the hillside offering stunning views across the sea and mountains from its verandah. There were nine of us in the group and all of us enjoyed immensly the facilites on offer. the villa itself is spacious, beautifully kept and maintained and is equipped with everything you need. the children made use of the table tennis table the basketball and the pool. Although the pool is an up ground one it is substantial in size and the adults as well as the children took advantage of it. On several days we did not go out atall as the children were happy and entertained there. The local town of Politika is very small and quaint with a range of coffee shops/restraunts and small shops/supermarkets. The town square in the evenings is a meeting place to eat and drink and generally relax in the evenings. Vertually no one speaks english which made us try some greek and we became proficient in sign language. We enjoyed the fact that the place was not over run with tourists and that we had to make an effort to communicate. The local beach is about five mins away in the car. There are a number of beach bars and clubs along the sea front and for the price of buying a drink of water you can use sunbeds and shades on the beach all day for free. The beaches along this stretch are quite narrow so although they are pebbles there is not far to walk across them to access the amazingly warm sea. There is little in the way of tide or current so its a very safe place for children to swim. From the villa it is about an hour an a half drive over the mountains to the other side of the Island and the Agean Sea. The views from the top of the mountain were stunning and well worth the trip itself. The beaches are slightly different more small pebbles and grainy sand and sea is more rough with waves crashing onto the beach. The children loved body boarding here.

All in all it was a fantastic place to hoiliday. I could not fault the villa in any way and the place was idyllic. I would definately like to make another visit and would book this villa again.
