Tavira Garden is a well-maintained and spacious complex, perfect for those seeking a relaxing holiday. The well-designed buildings are surrounded by extensive immaculate mature gardens with palm, carob and olive trees, shrubs, flowers and grass. Facilities include 2 large pools each with adjoining children's pool and surrounded by sun loungers and shade if required, poolside bar, football/tennis court, well equipped gym/sauna, children's playground, office(open Mon-Fri, English spoken), restaurant/bar with inside & outside dining, BBQ area, ample parking space. This bright comfortable ground floor studio apartment was completely re-equipped and re-furnished in 2007. It's fully air conditioned. The windows and balcony overlook a well-kept pretty garden area, easily reached from our balcony for relaxing or sunbathing (loungers provided). Tavira Beach (12km long) and the numerous other nearby beaches are all wonderful - huge, clean, sandy and never overcrowded even in summer.

This quiet complex is situated in the northern part of unspoiled Tavira town, one of the most elegant and beautiful towns on the Algarve, abounding in Roman and Moorish history and retaining a rare unspoiled charm. Still a working fishing port, tourism has had little impact here and the area is untouched by any 'yob-culture'. With its narrow cobbled streets, ancient castle, old churches, traditional tiled houses and Roman bridge spanning the broad River Gilao running through the town, exploring is sheer delight. There are dozens of pavement cafes and restaurants offering cheap delicious food, and a large daily market selling local produce. The unspoiled coast is within the Ria Formosa National Park, a World Heritage site. Tavira's massive clean sandy beach is one of the best in Europe, with EC Blue Flag status, uncrowded even in summer. Lots of other sandy beaches are within very easy reach, all huge, clean and uncrowded. This stretch of coast has the warmest sea in Portugal.

Notes to the rental rates

  • These rental charges are easily converted from Euros to £/Sterling.
    Payment Details: 30% deposit required on booking to secure reservation, balance payable 8 weeks before arrival. For bookings made less than 8 weeks before arrival, payment of 100% is required on booking to secure reservation. Bookings may be liable to cancellation if payments are not prompt.
    Rental costs for part weeks are charged pro-rota the weekly rate.
    Prices include bed linen, bathroom towels, tea towels.
    Prices include thorough cleaning before clients' arrival and after departure.
    Cancellation Policy: in case of cancellation, the 30% deposit is non-refundable. Of the 70% balance we will reimburse as much as we have been able to recoup with any replacement booking.
    We advise our clients to always take out holiday insurance.
  • LONG TERM WINTER LETTINGS - are offered from 1 November 2008 to 31 March 2009 at 125 Euros per week - minimum letting 4 weeks. There are no extra costs to pay as this price includes electricity, water, linen change every 7 days, thorough cleaning before clients' arrival and after departure.

As this is a studio apartment, the bedroom and lounge are one room. The bedroom area has lots of storage space in the new modern furniture. There is a DVD/CD player and flat-screen LCD television with lots of UK satellite stations. There are also comfortable lounge chairs and a coffee table. The separate kitchen area is fully equipped with modern units, fridge with small freezer, washing machine, full-size oven, four ring hob with extractor fan over, microwave, iron/ironing board, kettle, toaster, all crockery, cutlery and utensils. There's also a dining area with table and chairs, and window overlooking the garden. This apartment is perfect for winter holidays as there is good efficient heating (air conditioning plus separate heater), cavity wall insulation, double-glazed windows and new warm duvets for chilly nights.

The apartment has a large balcony with table and chairs. 3 shallow steps down from the balcony take you to the pretty well-kept garden area in front of the apartment, where you may relax & sunbathe in the comfortable new sun loungers we supply for our clients' exclusive use. There is access to 2 large roof terraces shared with the other occupants of this building (but hardly ever visited by anyone else) with stunning views to the Ria Formosa nature reserve and the sea. All the gardens, pools, and other facilities on Tavira Garden may be used by everyone on the complex. It's a very short & attractive walk from Tavira Garden through parts of the old town to the Roman bridge and harbour areas. Huge sandy Tavira Beach is reached by a delightful short ferry trip across the lagoon from the harbour. There are good restaurants at the beach and parasols/sun loungers for hire. Lots of other wonderful sandy beaches are nearby. All these superb beaches are clean and uncrowded even in summer.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS & TRANSPORT AROUND AREA

We can arrange your airport transfers by taxi at discounted prices; we can organise your car hire with a local high quality company, to collect on arrival at Faro Airport at no extra charge, or for just part of your holiday delivered to your apartment (we have no financial interest in either of these, but they are companies regularly used by friends and family with 100% satisfaction!) Bicycle hire is available in Tavira town. Trains take you to other parts of the Algarve or further into Portugal. Local buses go to other parts of the Algarve; buses from Tavira bus station go further afield including to Seville & other parts of Spain. Boat trips can be organised completely tailor-made to suit your wishes and very good value for money, eg fishing, bird watching in the Ria Formosa, exploring the coast, etc. Why not take a short boat trip to one of the nearby deserted beaches, or to pretty Santa Luzia village for a leisurely cheap fish lunch in one of the little restaurants there?

SHOPS AND INTERNET FACILITIES

It's a very short walk from Tavira Garden to the fascinating old town, harbour and Roman Bridge areas of Tavira, where you will also find the tourist information office near the medieval castle. The nearest supermarket is approx 100 metres (open 7 days per week 9am-9pm). The nearest bakers, cafes, bars, chemist, post office, other small shops, cash point are approx 700 metres. There are numerous small shops dotted around Tavira. Browse round the large daily market in town which sells local fresh produce, fruit, veg, fish and meat. Internet facilities are available in the Tavira Garden restaurant and also in several places in the town, and the old covered market place in Tavira is a WiFi zone. MISCELLANEOUS ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Smoking: please smoke only in outside areas. Safety: the apartment has fire extinguisher and fire blanket. There is NO gas installed in this building. The apartment is cleaned to a high standard prior to arrival and after departure. Pool/beach towels are available for hire on request, price 2 Euros per towel per stay. The apartment has a hair dryer, a comprehensive information folder, a selection of books. There is a small charge for use of the Tavira Garden gym & football/tennis court. Facilities in Tavira Garden's laundry including tumble dryers are available to guests for a small charge. Occasionally there may be limited opening of the restaurant out of high season. Sometimes access to the apartment on arrival may not be until 5pm and guests may be asked to vacate the apartment on departure by 10am; but only if necessary for cleaning/changeover requirements. Luggage storage is available if required. We live nearby, and always deal promptly with any client's queries.

Other Activities BIRD WATCHING - in the Ria Formosa natural park, a World Heritage area. FISHING - river or sea - boat hire can be arranged.

Golf Information:

Several top quality golf courses are within easy reach. The nearest, Benamor (5,500 metres par 71) was designed by Sir Henry Cotton and is just 4km from Tavira Garden. Other local courses include Quinta de Cima, 6,256 metres par 72; Quinta da Ria, 6,110 metres par 72 (both approx 7km from Tavira Garden); Castro Marim, 5,466 metres par 72 (25km from Tavira Garden). The new and beautiful Monte Rei course is 15 minutes drive away - the first 18 holes opened in Spring 2007. Lots of other courses in the western Algarve and western Spain are within one hour's drive. Price discounts are available for most local courses with a Tavira Garden card which should be requested prior to arrival. Golf club hire is available including trolleys.
