Lagoa’s long history as an important commercial and administrative centre in the Algarve has left a strong legacy of remarkable buildings. The historical centre of Lagoa is centred around the main church, which is an amazing site, with a huge bell tower and containing many valuable pieces of religious art. The Monastery of Sao Jose is far more sober than the main church, yet just as endearing and genuinely worth closer investigation from a Lagoa property.

The Lagoa coastline offers a fantastic splash of colour, with the azure waters, white sands and bright oranges of the cliffs providing an amazing sight, popular with artists, photographers and nature lovers throughout the world. There are a great range of beaches to choose from though, with a huge number of secluded (sometimes hard to reach) beaches just waiting for your visit. More accessible and popular beaches include Carvoeiro Beach, Benagil Beach and Vale de Centianes, all of which have excellent tourist and water sports facilities. The deep sea fishing for marlin, swordfish and tuna is sensational, and there are a great range of sightseeing boat trips taking visitors along to the best spots on the coast.

Whilst the Lagoa Fatacil is a local celebration, stall holders, bands and singers flock from across the whole of Portugal to entertain festival goers and let them enjoy Portugal’s finest produce.
