Self catering single-double room apartment in a 1850 family building completely restored in 2004 and equipped for tourist accommodation up to 5 persons - VILLINO CASTELLANO was a 1850-1913 family villa. In a strategically position both for tourist excursions to the worldwide known destinations of Capri, Ischia, the Amalfi Drive, the Sorrento Peninsula, the Vesuvius volcano, Naples etc and to the two thousand years old sites of Pompei, Hercoulanum, Paestum, all destroyed by the eruption of the Vesuvius in the year 79 p.c. At 300m (359 yards) only from the local railway station (Circumvesuviana line) and 200m from the bus stops for the Amalfi Drive, in a very quiet lemon/olives garden. VILLINO CASTELLANO offers also a panoramic terrace and the chance of a peaceful vacation both for couples and families at very reasonable prices.

Public transportation modes: Forget your car ... we are at 200m from bus stop and 350m from the local train station --- by train every 15 minutes and in 6 minutes you are in the centre of Sorrento without any traffic and parking problem --- every 30 minutes you can reach Pompei, Hercoulanum and Naples --- twice a day.. coaches to /from Rome (3,5 hours)

Capri : From the harbour of Sorrento many many ferries and hydrofoils to Capri ... trip time: 20-40 minutes

Amalfi Drive: From Meta railway station and Sorrento many daily buses to Positano (12 Km) , Amalfi (25 Km) and Ravello (30 Km)

Other Activities: Good restaurants, many possible different excursions

magical the real Italy

Our first time visiting this fastenating country. We stayed at meta which is about 4km outside sorrento. We were met by luigi at the bus stop and being first timers our Italian was none. But he spoke perfect english and it was through him we got around italy for very little expence, from telling us what times the trains and buses were and advising on restraunts he truly was and exceptional host. As for Meta its there you stay amongst the real Italian people it was great to go into sorrento but to come away from all touristy stuff was a blessing and with a two minute walk to the train station u could be in pomei.
Owner's Response: Thank you Rory ... it's very kind of you --- I come from a very intensive experience in a commercial dpt of a very large international company and I learned (and teached) that courtasy does not cost a single penny and that it pays instead a lot in retrurn ... I do my best to let my clients feel at home while staying and visiting this interesting and exiting part of the world ----
Here, in my ex grand father 1850/1913 building, it's really everything new and logistically placed in a strategica and baricentric position to visit world wide known sites like Pompei, Capri, the Amalfi Dirve, the Vesuvious ecc ecc and, of course, to stay in totally restored apartments fully equipped where to rest in a very comfortable way ---
Hope to see you again and ... many others in the future --
My clients are always increasing, year after year, and I am satisfied of what I am doing after less then 4 years since I started this activity ----

This is the REAL Italy

The appartment is everything it claims with all you need for a perfect self catering holiday and Luigi is a mine of information. The location is within minutes walk of good local shops with excellent local produce, within 5 minutes walk of reliable local transport (bus and train). Sorrento 6 minute train ride, Pompeii 30 minutes (station 1 minute from the entrance), Herculaneum 40 minutes (10 minutes walk down the hill from the station).
Much of the beach at Meta (15 minutes walk downhill) is pay beach, however there is also some public beach). Piano is well worth a visit not only for swimming but also to experience the sailing facilities. If you enjoy waling try to visit Capo near Sorrento to visit the Roman villa (swimming off the rocks is fantastic).
Spend some time in Meta, don't rush around trying to visit everything, experience the local life.
Beware, if you take travellers cheques on holiday the bank in Meta won't change them, you will get a good rate at Money Gram in Sorrento.

Fantastic place to stay near Sorrento

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Luigi's apartment and would highly recommend it. Luigi was a true gentleman and incredibly helpful, nothing was too much trouble. He was also great with our children. The apartment itself was spacious, light and airy, with beautiful views over the sea, towards Sorrento and the mountains, and with a handy balcony. It was very clean and had all the facilities we needed. It was also in a great location as it was close to the airport bus stop and the train station, so you could easily get trains to Sorrento (and then take boats to beautiful Capri or Positano and Amalfi... highly recommended), Naples, Pompeii and Herculaneum. It was great not to have to hire a car! Also close enough to the beach for days when we wanted a break from sightseeing. Many thanks Luigi!

Wonderful town, apartment, host

My husband and sister and I stayed in Villa Castellano this summer and it was lovely. We had no trouble with transportation to Pompeii, Sorrento, Herculaneum, Naples, etc. since the train is just a short walk from the apartment. We much preferred Meta to Sorrento--it's quiet, not swarmed with tourists, and has a delightful beach. We thoroughly enjoyed getting our cappuccino every morning and having delicious dinners in Meta every night. Luigi was an excellent host--available and helpful.

We would certainly stay here again and would heartily recommend it to others.

A very enjoyable stay near Sorrento

The accommodation (we stayed in the standard apartment) was very good with everything you would need and balcony overlooking the narrow, quiet streets and lemon grove. There was also access to the roof terrace, my preferred time of day was in the evening (when a little cooler) over looking the beautiful sunsets.
Luigi was very helpful and welcoming and the position of the property close to the train and bus routes direct to various sites.
One tip, when getting the bus from the airport queue at the bus stop well in advance as it does get full. We got there 15 mins before it was due and it was full.
A very enjoyable stay and I have to say all the locals were very friendly and helpful too. Highly recommended.
