Approached down a long private road very safe for children:- LARGE FARMHOUSE with three bedrooms all ensuite, well equiped lge kitchen equiped to cater for large numbers when one or both other houses are also booked, dining area can seat up to 20, lounge with woodburner, sat tv DVD etc.utility room with downstairs toilet washing machine POOLSIDE APARTMENT three bedrooms all ensuite, well equiped easy to use kitchen, lounge with woodburner (underfloor heating) Sat TV DV etc. Terrace balcony with beautiful views over valley, courtyard garden BBQ. DELIGHTFULL COTTAGE next to wildflower meadow, three bedrooms, bathroom, seperate toilet, wellequiped kitchen, utility with downstairs toilet, lounge with sat tv etc; wood burner &underfloor heating, terrace BBQ. Large gardens with swings and plenty of room for outdoor games football badminton etc. 10 X 5m pool and small baby pool for infants solar heated. Large BBQ room for at least 2 cars per property. Outdoor tables chairs & loungers.

Large old farmhouse restored eight years ago and new kitchen and ensuites added last year. Open plan downstairs to allow best use of the property large well equipped kitchen with 5burner range gas cooker and electric oven catering size utensils to allow meals to be prepared for larger numbers when the other houses are also booked for the same group. Lounge area has woodburner satellite television DVD etc. Two tables can be placed together to allow up to 20 to eat together. Two spacious family bedrooms north bedroom has double and single with pull out bed under the ensuite has toilet washbasin and bath with shower attachment. South bedroom has double bed and bunk beds the ensuite has toilet washbasin and shower. The middle bedroom has two single beds and the ensuite has toilet and washbasin. A utility room downstairs has the washing machine water heater and toilet. Outside there is an outdoor table chairs and sun loungers large bbq washing line and parking for at least two cars.

Mont St Michel only half hours drive away as are the many long clean empty beaches on the Cherbourg peninsular. Large outdoor market every wednesday in St Hilaire du Harcouet only 15 minutes away. The houses are set in a beautifully quiet countryside location with no traffic noise and an abundance of wildlife, trout in the stream, red squirels, barn owls etc.The Normandy landing beaches are about 90 minutes drive as is Bayeux with its famous tapestry. Several Golf courses are within easy reach as is horse riding at a number of nearby stables. Mortain has beautiful waterfall areas Grand Cascade and Petit cascade you may also see rock climbers here in the little canyons magnificent views from Petit Chapelle. Villedieu with its copper and bell foundry Fosse Arthur also has climbing stunning walking scenery and a large lake with fishing. Other excellent fishing in the area both lakes and rivers. Cycle riding is a pleasure along many of the disused railways. Domfront and Bagnolles nearby.

Notes: The kitchen is large and well laid out to cater for large parties as many guests take the farmhouse plus one or two of the other houses on the site and tend to do the catering in this house. We have provided large catering pans etc and the large range cooker has five burners and large electric oven and grill. There is a small utility room by the doorway with the washing machine and a toilet/washbasin so guests do not have to go upstairs for the toilet. Outside there are large gardens with lawned areas and a wildflower meadow so plenty of room for healthy outdoor play.

The Property: La Haute Barberie is about a mile outside the village of Nore Dame du Touchet a small village that has a general store, bar/cafe` and bakery also a quality antiques retailer. Mortain is a hilltop town about 15 minutes away that has a Carrefour supermarket and many other facilities the waterfall complexes (Grand and Petit cascades are beautiful walks) as also is a visit to the Petit Chapelle which aford magnificent views out all the way to Mont st Michel on a fine day and is also a poignant reminder of the intense battle for this hill. Going the other direction from the village is the larger town of St Hilaire du Harcouet which features one of the largest street markets in Normandy each Wednesday, also two supermarkets and many bars and restaurants.

We are three generations - grandparents, parents & 10 year old & all voted the week in the Farmhouse the highlight of our two weeks in France. The Farmhouse is full of character, very spacious, comfortable & relaxing. It was great to have our own en-suite facilities. There were lots of crockery/cutlery/pans/dishes & large cooker & microwave. A good sized fridge freezer & easy to use washing machine. Not that we spent too much time on household chores! We made good use of the BBQ in the large garden. The pool is great - a great size for the 10 year old keen swimmer & she soon made friends with the other two children of similar age at the nearby gite. They enjoyed playing table tennis & the selection of board games. We all liked the fact we could relax for a while watching our favourite British TV programme or reading one of the many books.
The gite is in a very quiet, peaceful situation but with lovely villages & towns nearby. We found the owners' information on food shopping & places to visit very helpful. There is so much to see that we will have to go back again. We would definitely recommend the Farmhouse.
