Accommodation comprises: open plan living & dining with galley kitchen; three bedrooms sleeping 7 with a bed-settee for additional guest. Chalet also has sauna facilities as well as two bathrooms and a ski-room. Winter: Within close proximity there are a number of ski regions including Turracher and Kreischberg which between them have over 40 kilometres of skiing. Summer: In summer, the local mountains offer a wide variety of hiking trails whilst children can also enjoy Kreischbergs dinosaur forest for an adventure. There are also numerous mountain lakes to enjoy and for the more adventurous rafting on the river Mur. Other activities include Mountain biking, summer tobogganing and fishing in Lake Turracher See. The Nockberge National Park and the thermal and healing bath Karlbad with natural Schaffelbad in the National Park.

Ski Areas

Stadl is located within a short drive of nine ski resorts, that have a number of attractions in store for a range of skiers from adventure-seeking advanced skiers, snowboarders and carvers to beginners. Besides different specialised runs, a permanent racecourse with time-measuring systems and the largest half pipe in Europe. Skiers wishing to try a variety of resorts during their stay can buy a Murtal ski pass that is valid on the Frauenalpe, Grebenzen, Kreischberg, Lachtal, Hohentauern and Präbichl ski areas. The ski mountain Turracher Höhe can be included on the Murtal ski pass against an extra charge. In the neighbouring area of Saltzburgerland the areas of Obertauern and Mauterndorf are also within a short drive and add to the variety of winter sports available.

Summer Activities

This area has many activities to keep you occupied during the summer months. Stadl offers many great hiking opportunities! The big advantage being: You can cover the initial vertical distance by cable way, and start your hike at the tree line. Here you will find yourself surrounded by Austria’s largest Swiss stone pine forest; the Swiss stone pine is a slow growing, compact, extremely cold-hardy tree which can reach an age of 1000 years and gives excellent pollen-free mountain air. The children can also enjoy Kreischberg’s dinosaur forest for an adventure. Apart from enjoying the splendour of the many mountain lakes in the summer the region also offers: Mountain bike trails, Summer tobogganing, Fishing in the lake Turracher See, Tennis courts, Nockberge National Park and scenic Nockalmstrasse route, Thermal and healing bath Karlbad with natural Schaffelbad in the National Park, Reptile zoo in Patergassen, Rafting on the Mur, Mur biking trail, Horse riding & trekking, 13 golf courses

Eating Out Shopping & Local Supermarkets

The village of Stadl offers a choice of restaurants. The Guesthouse Mutalerhof offers traditional Austrian Cuisine. Each of the nearby towns of St Lorenzen, Murau and Tansweg have numerous good quality restaurants. We particularly recommend Sylvanos Restaurant outside Kreischberg. A bit of a drive up the mountain but well worth the trip. Within Stadl you can find a petrol station with a good sized local supermarket, a chemist, a doctors surgery, bakers shop, post office, police station, taxi's and a dentist.
