Yorkshire Dales holiday cottage: Pateley Bridge, Nidderdale (Yorkshire Dales)

We had a lovely fortnight’s family holiday at this property. It is exactly as portrayed in the owner’s description – ideally located with both plenty of different walks in the Area of Outstanding Beauty and a good variety of shops & catering establishments etc right “on the doorstep”. The cottage has been beautifully and sympathetically restored and is very tastefully furnished and fitted out. It is spotlessly clean and well decorated. There is plenty of space indoors – although the single bedroom (which can become a twin/double) is probably too small for two unrelated adults as the beds are very close together (the owner alerted us to this when we booked). Although the small flower-filled garden is unsuitable for children to play in (the green area in the photo is actually part of a neighbouring property), there is a fantastic-looking children’s playground nearby.
The picturesque hamlet in which the cottage is located is very friendly. The small town, which is within walking distance, caters well for tourists whilst retaining its authentic Yorkshire Dales character.
Further afield, Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough and York are all well worth visiting and not far to drive – or take the bus. We also enjoyed the guided tours around the two breweries at Masham.
We have no hesitation in recommending this lovely cottage – and would be delighted to stay there again ourselves.
