Winter:
Smokers may rent on the condition that they use the balcony outside to smoke and do not smoke inside. Children - please note that this apartment is fitted out to the highest standard and only well behaved children should visit, otherwise your deposit may suffer!! The Lauberhorn downhill course is renown as the toughest for endurance on the world cup season and is open for public skiing after the race. There is both high level wide pistes and wood lined runs back to the village. The chalet is 5 minutes walk from the quad chair lift and around 15 minutes walk from the station and main shopping area. In addition for non skiers there are other attractions. Everyone should visit the Jungfraujoch - the highest station in Europe at 11,500ft, and the Schilthorn at 10,000ft the revolving restaurant famous from the James Bond film. Bookings for Ski season 08/09 are already coming in fast so quick booking is advised.
Culture:
In honours of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy takes place each year in August the Mendelssohn music week. Mendelssohn visited Wengen in 1842 on 21 August and drew the place Wengen with the Jungfrau in the background. In August 2004 the Mendelssohn memorial place was built in Wengen and inaugurated solemnly.
View from the memorial place is spectacular and not far from the chalet.
Summer:
The holiday resort, the centre of the Berner Oberland offers it self’s in summer with hikes and mountain walks with different difficulties. 500km of sign posted hiking trails as well as 15 different mountain transportation in the nearest environment which bring you to the nicest viewpoints near to the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Located in the heart of Switzerland, Wengen is the central starting point for unforgettable excursions. For example to the Männlichen , the Jungfraujoch-Top of Europe (the highest located train station on 3454m) or the Schilthorn with Piz Gloria (the highest situated turning restaurant of the alps on 2970m).The chalet is in a quiet spot, fifteen minutes walk from the centre of the village, The walk from the centre of town is not strenuous (as it is flat walk) and the chalet is in a secluded, private and peaceful spot .There are fabulous mountain views. View from the chalet is simply breathtaking and Mendelssohn memorial place is not far away.
Ski:
Wengen famous downhill ski-race is virtually around the corner from the chalet. There you will find traditional Mary`s cafe where you can indulge yourself in fantastic choice of home cooked food while enjoying the spectacular mountain panorama.
After a long day rest in front of a log fire put your feet up with the picturesque Lauterbrunnen Valley view around you, or perhaps spend a few rejuvenating minutes in our infra red sauna. Wake up in the morning to a sound of cow-bells.
The chalet is in a quiet spot, fifteen minutes walk from the centre of the village, five minutes from the Innerwengen quad chair lift,and Marys cafe giving direct access to the train at Allmend for connections to the ski areas.
It is close to the finish line of the Lauberhorn ski race so the chalet Zielschuss is named according to the finish of this famous top class race.
