The gite was perfect for myself, husband and two young girls. We didn't buy any fruit while we were in france because the plum, apple and pear trees were so tasty and abundent in the garden. The pool was brilliant for the girls and a god send in the heat. We could not fault the owners hospitality and home. We met some lovely people and went to lovely places. The kids loved it so much we may well go back next year. There are alot of water places to visit within 20km. The beach at Mershers (1.5hr drive) is idyllic.

What a wonderful holiday we had.Lazy days by the pool surrounded by wonderful countryside.Barbeque by evening in the lovely garden and the stars at night are amazing.Yet only 5 minutes away from Chalais were you can stock up on all the essentials.Great market on Monday and plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area.Golf,Fishing,Walking etc,etc and the coast only 1 hour away.Nicky and Dave are fantastic they made our stay.We loved the place that much we purchased our own holiday home during our stay.Thanks to Nicky ,Dave and there friends.Thanks again see you in November Nicky & Dave.

Gite near Chalais

we rented this gite hoping for a holiday which would offer peace and tranquility yet with the option of activities and town life nearby. We got everything we could have wished for. The owners are great - we spent 3 weeks there so we did become friends. They gave us lots of useful tips and information on the area. There are so many lovely places within easy driving distance, all worth visiting. The gite is fantastic - clean, spacious, very comfortable and very well equipped. The garden is beautiful, totally private and with a super pool tastefully situated amid fruit trees and shrubs. There are plenty of sports facilties in the town, less than 10mins cycle. The tennis club offers children's classes and the local 'Mum's club' organises different childrens activities during the week - in English. There's also the Municipal Pool complete with diving boards etc. The town itself offers good food, friendly people and the Monday market is enormous. As a keen runner I discovered lots of amazing run routes through sunflowers and corn fields. Ideal also for cycling and walking. We could sing endless praise for this place and highly recommend it for a fantastic holiday. I can't forget to mention the night sky either - stars, stars, stars - and zero light pollution - beautiful. We will be back!
