Sailing and Boating

Headquarters for sailing and boating activities is the Cascais Marina; a modern and beatiful location right on Cascais bay. The Marina recently hosted major races like ISAF Sailing World Championship, the European 49ers Championship, the QuebraMar Regatta, Cowes-Cascais, Portugal Sailing Tour-de-France, Portugal Match Cup, and His Majesty King Juan Carlos I’s Trophy. Every once in awhile dolphins swim in to look around. Sailing, fishing, and pleasure craft can also be rented at the Cascais Marina.

Tennis, Equestrian

The area has many tennis clubs and courts. The Estoril Open is a regular PTA fixture. The world's best clay court players come to participate in the tournament. The Estoril Tennis Club has 18 courts with excellent facilities including floodlighting for play at night. Cascais is a center of equestrian activities and shows in Europe having recently built a magnificent new center for this sport. There are great riding paths through the woods.

Other Activities sightseeing, rock climbing, motorcycle racing, paragliding.

Golf Information:

The Cascais area has some spectacular golf courses. Among seven close by are Quinta de Marinha and Penha Longa. Fees are reasonable and the courses are of championship quality.

We, just 2, were here for 3 weeks in May '08. The owners were great and let us arrive on the Thursday, not adhering to the Saturday to Saturday norm.
The flat is simply beautiful! Kitchen a dream with everything you could want; bathroom so lovely. Garden was a delight, with a huge BBQ grill. Close to downtown and the sea. Parking at first looked hard, but was quite easy and we never had a problem. Maria was a true sweetie, gave good info - even had up-to-date travel guides for reference!
There is road noise, but the fence keeps you private, and when you close the windows: silence. There's a/c for the hot days, but we didn't need it.
This carefully renovated flat, full of so many thoughtful details, and managed by concerned owners, made our vacation! The photos are not as wonderful as the apartment. Thanks, Maria!
