Ski on the sun, ride and walk in the Mercantour Park, raft in the Verdon

Situated at Val d'Allos (a magical valley ) at an altitude of 1400m , in the Southern Alps, 'Le Chardon' our large, well equipped first floor apartment rated 2* by Gite de France(50m2) , with a south facing balcony is a good base for wonderful holiday all the year round: Skiing in the Provençal sun with 3 resorts offering 230km of down hill and 100km of cross country ski runs in the valley. You can ride to the Pellat summit (3058m), walk in the Mercantour Park to Lake d'Allos (2000m), cycle in the Col d'Allos, go mountain -biking on the runs, rafting , canyoning, fishing in the Verdon or swimming in the heated pool or in the lake at the leisure park. Or you can just relax in the sunshine . You need never be bored in this magical and sunny valley. We are two retired teachers with two grown up children. This apartment was our holiday apartment when our children were younger.

There are flights into Nice airport or Marseille airport from which you can take a bus (winter - Saturdays) to Val d'Allos . You must book the bus (tel 0891024025) or see on www.valdallos.com further information about the timetable. You can also join us by TGV to Marseille and then take a bus. Again you must book a seat on the bus. During the other seasons (12th April until 22th December) you can take a bus from Nice airport to the railway station from which you can take the 'chemin de fer de Provence' ligne Nice-Val d'Allos which runs all year round. Further information can be found on the site www.valdallos.com . You can also rent car if you want to visit the area during you stay. The dining room is very large, with a french window which lead to the south facing balcony. The apartment is situated in the village d'Allos so you will find every thing you need in the nearby supermarket and the other shops. You have 3 electric heaters and there is the added advantage of a log burning stove for cosy winter evenings. A mere 100 metres from the apartment is the link to the ski runs at Val d'Allos (1500m) and you can see the resort from the apartment balcony.
