Old chalet in alpine village square surrounded by old barns, but with frequent free shuttle bus that stops just outside us, and takes 10 min max to reach Meribel lifts centre (in car, 4 min) or 4 min to Meribel Village lift. During season, you can normally ski in to village. Characterful Family home in good taste, roomy and cosy with pictures, maps and nice things around. Garage. Underfloor heating. Car: not necessary
Ski down to Meribel Chandon in season, but stay in real character alpine village avoiding noisy ski station. Central position of chalet in village with shuttle bus stop right outside, so no walking to bus. Les Allues below us with 3 restaurants, and Meribel Village just above us, with Boulangerie, Shops and Lift.

  • Guests may check in after 5pm, though they can leave their baggage in the garage before that. Guest must leave before 10 am as the cleaner needs the chalet clear by then - this is important. Chalet ideal for families. 10 adults also fine. But any extra adults over 8 must pay extra, maximum 12 people. CLEAN LINEN is supplied at the start of your stay, but if you want it to be changed every week - for those who stay 2 weeks or more - then please ask our garden, and pay him 3 euros per bed place (e.g 6 euros for a double bed) for new pillow cases and under sheet, and 2 euros per quilt place (4 euros for a double quilt). Alternatively, you are most welcome to wash and dry them yourself - washer provided.

More Photos of Nikita and Surrounds: Meribel is the middle valley of the justly world famous 3 valleys - 'le plus grand domaine skiable du monde' is the claim, and judging by the fact that every year we discover new pistes and lifts, this is surely the case. Not to mention the legendary off piste... This resort has everything, except big lift queues. And it is truly international, with a major British presence. So much so that the even the french part of the french ski school usually seem to speak ski English. And unlike other resorts, such as Tignes, the station is itself an attractive and genuine alpine resort, which is why it attracts so many visitors in the summer as well. Our kids go to the french ski school, and have achieved an exceptional standard of skiing here in Meribel partly because of it. We often rent a ski locker so that they don't have to carry their skis - easy to arrange in advance if necessary.

Chalet Nikita is the perfect place to stay. Well equipped kitchen, nice log fire with free logs. No extra charges. Excellent position in the centre of Meribel Chandon - and no walk to the frequent shuttle bus as it stops right outside. 4 toilets and 3 showers a big help too. Lovely main area around fire and loads of seats and sofas. Garage v useful for ski stuff. Have already booked 2 weeks in 2009.
Owner's Response: Well, given that you are coming again - you must like it. And on a personal note, I must say that we, as a family, absolutely love this place, both summer and winter. Our neighbours are so friendly, and we feel right in the centre of things here - simply because we are. And Chandon is known as the most authentic alpine village in the Meribel complex, which is easy to believe. So thank you to our guests for this review, and welcome next winter.
