We aim to provide a very high standard of country living and comfort with traditional architecture and modern facilities. Monte da Quinta sets a high standard and has been approved and officially licensed by the Ministry of Tourism of Portugal. Comprising of two cottages which are beautifully furnished to a high standard. A large natural salt water swimming pool and children’s play pool (no chlorine or chemicals). CASA LARANJEIRA, 3 ensuite bedrooms sleeping 6 OR 2 ensuite sleeping 4. CASA OLIVEIRA, 2 ensuite bedrooms sleeping 4. Monte da Quinta offers relaxation and tranquillity with stunning views over the Alentejo landscape. Just a five minute walk into the historic town of Castro Verde. Regional cuisine such as traditional black pig, lamb and fresh fish dishes, rich and robust local wines and hand made creamy sheep’s cheeses. Locate within easy reach of the West coast and the Algarve. The Alentejo landscape provides the perfect terrain for many outdoor activities.

The cottage is furnished to a high and comfortable standard with wooden furniture and wrought iron beds. It has a large comfortable lounge and dining area complete with a TV/Video, DVD and CD player. A selection of DVD's,video's, books and board games. A well equipped kitchen also provides granite worktops, a hob, oven, microwave, large fridge/freezer, kettle, electric juicer, toaster, an iron and an ironing board. Both bedrooms have en suite facilities, walk-in shower or bath, WC, hand basin and bidet. Both bedrooms have double doors onto their own private terrace.A door from the kitchen opens onto an alternate private breakfast terrace. Large doors open from the lounge onto a private covered dining terrace, with southerly views for miles over the un-spoilt Alentejo plains. For extra comfort this cottage has under floor heating for the winter months. It has traditional terracotta floors throughout with wooden shuttered windows, high vaulted beamed ceilings and an open fireplace.

To the south, the Algarve with coastal towns such as Faro, Largos, Portimao, Loule, Albufeira, and Tavira. To the west, lies the stunningly, unspoilt beaches, estuaries and towns along the Atlantic Coast line. To the east, the beautiful countryside along the Spanish border. Whites Lands - Although it is characterised by vast and sunny plains, with apparently endless wheat-fields, the Alentejo always offers new landscapes. The plains of Castro Verde, full of thousands of white flowers during spring, are excellent for walks by foot or by bicycle. Storks, bustards, hawks and vultures prefer the solitude of the golden plains. Some streams are ideal for frogs, salamanders and tortoises, whilst Wild Boar prefer the oak plantations

Both cottages have books, board games and puzzles. (Please Note: there is no Sky, or Internet). Laundry Facilities - We have a communal Laundry room with several washing machines and a tumble dryer. We do ask a small charge of 5 Euros, this does however include your washing detergents.

perfect place to relax

we had a great time at this perfect place. The property is very clean, well-maintained. The owner provides very detailed information regarding the activities, attractions and restaurants around the farm house. The house is very charming. The swimming pool is lovely (the owner cleans the pool every morning). The landscape is beautiful. When you open the door in your bedroom, the bright big moon is right on the sky, moonlight shines on your bed, which is romantic. You can stay in the house or beside the pool to relax, enjoy the hot sunshine; or you can drive to the south coast to visit big cities and beach. The farm house is located a great location since you can drive to the beach or other cities within 2 hours.

The village is beautiful. People in the village are extremely friendly and nice. We would like to highly recommend this charming holiday place to our friends.

The best ingredients for a perfect holiday

Monte da Quinta, located in the beautiful Alentejo region, offers the ideal combination of ingredients for a perfect holiday.

We loved our cottage Casa Oliviera with the spacious shady terrace, the large rooms with seperate bathrooms (incl the perfect shower), the swimmingpool including the small pool where our three-year old girl wanted to play all day and the wonderful view over the Alentejo hills! Also the presence of the working farm was really nice: it meant feeding the ducks, pigs and chickens every morning and seeing the sheep passing by every day accompanied by a real shepherd. Not something we see every day in the city...Besides the animals of the farm, we also enjoyed the company of owls, swallows, storks and other beautiful birds.

This, combined with the relaxed and friendly presence of the owners Michaela and Nigel, the weatherconditions, the Portugese lifestyle (food, wine) and the beautiful surroundings of the Alentejo, are for us the ingredients for a perfect holiday.

And, needless to say, we hope to return soon!

We spent a wonderful week at Casa Oliveira. The property was just as described - well equipped, comfortable, and very clean. The owners are very friendly and helpful and made us feel at home immediately. We loved the beauty and tranquility of the location - and our daughter loved the pool, feeding the pigs and chickens, and collecting fresh eggs, for breakfast on the terrace! We hope to be back!

Fantastic Stay At Monte da Quinta, Alentejo

We stayed at Monte da Quinta twice in 2008, the first time we stayed we were looking for land in Alentejo and the second time was to finalise our purchase. Michaela and Nigel were the most welcoming hosts you could ever wish for. The farm is so peaceful and the accommodation clean and well maintained. Castro Verde is a delightful town, a short walk from Monte da Quinta, with good restaurants and shopping facilities. We would definitely recommend this property and would stay here again without question.
