The flat is located nearby the 'new town' on the right bank of the Elbe, but also close to the inner city. The name 'new town' might be irritating to tourist, since this part of the city was named 'Altendresden' and was getting city rights in 1403. After a great fire it was rebuilt in 1658 as part of Dresden, getting the name 'new town' in these days. One of the most famous Statue of King August the Strong, known as the 'Golden Horseman' is located in New Town. Just a few steps north one of the most cultural quarters is located. Here it is where a various number of restaurants, bars are located as well as a large variety of different kinds of shops and cultural galleries are situated. Some say that the atmosphere is comparable to London’s “Notting Hill” or SOHO in New York.

Dresden, the capitol of Saxony, lies in the upper Elbe valley. The City has been favoured over the centuries not only by its beautiful settings but also due to its agreeable climate and its situation on important trade routes. Also today it is only 152km (95miles) to Prague, one of the main cultural centers within Europe and only 193km (120miles) to Berlin. Around Dresden there are many touristic attractions like the Ore Mountains or Saxon Switzerland. Moritzburg, a electoral hunting palace of king August the Strong, is only 14km (8 miles) away as well as Pillnitz, the Pleasure Palace and Park, which can be also reached by water. Meissen is close by (29km, 18miles), famed for its porcelain manufacture and its history going back more than a thousand years, as is Pirna, located about 26km (16miles) east of Dresden, with its old town preserving numbers of handsome Late Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings.
