Large beautiful stone house, built in 2007, has the most splendid panoramic country views in the heart of romantic Dordogne. Our family self-catering villa is offered for summer rental for the first time in 2008 and we can guarantee you will be stunned by its luxury, comfort, beauty, fabulous furniture and open spacious rooms. Built in traditional Oak and local stone but yet with latest modern technology. A superb kitchen with chiller drawers and a cooking island. Three large king size bedrooms, with designer linen and fluffy towels. One bedroom has a fully tiled en-suite with walk in wet room. Two other mezzanine bedrooms enjoy a large modern bath/shower room. Dining room offers panoramic views of orchards, woods and meadows. A large covered terrace for summer dining, both overlooking the safe pool area. Our large lounge has a vaulted ceiling, exposed oak beams and a grand open fire.   • The bathrooms are fully tiled and are state of the art ,the en suite is ultra modern with walk in wet room shower. The bathrooms are light and lovely and are everything you want in a modern new bathroom We supply lovely soft bath towels and hand towels per person, soaps and extras pool towels also for each person

  • The two bedrooms on the mezzanine share a large modern bathroom with bath and shower. Both the rooms can have a single bed in or not as required. the single beds can be exchanged for a cot. One room is the gold room with fabulous old Dutch pine furniture. The silver room has black metal french bed and bedside tables to match. Each bedroom has its own wardrobe/linen press and chest of drawers or drawer space. Bedside tables and bedside lights. Each is equipped with fan and heater. Fully carpeted with designer linen and squidgy duvet and pillows. Soft fluffy towels and hairdryer. The large master bedroom is superbly furnished in white hand painted oak suite comprising of sleigh bed, bedside tables, chest of drawers and triple wardrobe. Lovely curtains and rugs on tiled floor with underfloor heating. En Suite luxury state of the art bathroom with large double bath, and walk in wet room shower. All bathrooms have toilets plus we have an extra downstairs loo for guests with basin.

Notes: This property is very exclusive and has wonderful new leather furniture , the mezzanine level is safe for toddlers if they are supervised. There is a strong metal banister all the way down the stairs but they lead to the main lounge which does not have a baby gate for toddlers. Most of the living is on the ground floor but, the end of the terraced outdoor eating area has steps down to the pool. this area has a safety gate for children but once inside the pool area there are no alarms as the whole area is walled and can only be accessed by the gated area. You can also watch the children in this area from both the dining room and covered terrace or by sitting around the pool area, which is safe for children. We do not have air conditioning however the house is very cool, we do have fans in every bedroom. The owner lives next door and will each morning remove pool cover, put out lounge covers and swim sometimes at about 7.00 am. There are animals around the house but not your area.

Swimming Pool: We have a lovely newly built swimming pool. It is regularly cleaned during your stay. It is 12 x 6 metres and is heated by geothermic heating. It is a salt water pool which makes it more hygienic and safer for your use. No horrid Chlorine smells. The pool is just below the terrace and dining room of the house where you can safely observe your children. The pool is kidney shaped and has a lovely fresh water shower for rinsing off before and after pool use. Our pool is surrounded by a safe wall, security gate and tropical plants with a rock feature and waterfall. There is also a new pool house/barbeque where you can gas barbeque and keep warm if the night is a little chilly. There is ample play area around the pool and a deck for sunbeds, table and chairs and large freestanding umbrella. The whole area is very luxurious and relaxing. No car sounds, just fresh sunny air and nature calls all around. The perfect place to unwind after a day touring the beautiful Dordogne countryside.

Our Gardens.: Maison du Verger has a lovely long drive to the front of the house, down a country track, off the main road. We have our own private gate and drive and it is set in an area of about 14 acres, all free for you to discover. We have a large fruit and nut orchard, a large orchid and wildflower meadow, a 1 acre carp fishing lake with a small boat,(sorry no insurance on the boat at customers own risk ) (can send you pictures of the fish we have caught.) Some ducks on the lake to feed, a bottom meadow for our little flock of goats and woods containing, chestnut, pine and oak free for you to ramble and in the autumn collect wonderful cep mushrooms, a delicacy here in the Dordogne. A few free range chickens near for fresh egg We are in a semi-rural area and away from the tourist trail but 10 min away from a good market town. Only just an hour away from the main tourist attractions. An ideal spot for anyone wanting a tranquil away from it all holiday with wonderful luxurious home comforts.

Fishing: This year we have had many carp caught the largest 22 lbs and 18lbs and 12lbs come along we will send you the photos if you request them and the clients who caught them thanks.

A perfect holiday

How do you descibe a perfect holiday? From the moment we arrived at the Maison du Verger and were greeted by the owners, Pattie and Graham, we knew that this would be a great holiday. The villa was exceptionally clean and beautifully furnished, but it immediately felt like home. The layout was great, with our two boys enjoying the seculsion of their upstairs bedrooms (with bathroom!) and us enjoying the privacy of our bedroom (with ensuite - I loved the shower and the view from the bath!). The views were spectacular as were the plants and pool area (This is a villa which is loved by its owners). The location is quiet but close to many places of interest. Our boys particularly enjoyed canoeing on the Dordogne and also go kart racing in Bergerac. We were extremely lucky with the weather which was in the mid 30's throughout our stay.
The boys send special thanks to Graham for the tractor rides and to Pattie for the walks! We would love to return one day and share a bottle or two of wine!!

Maison Le Verger St Aquilin Dordogne

This house is absolutely fabulous, really well finished with a lovely pool. The owners Pattie and Graham are in the smaller house next door and use this main house as their own during the winter and it really is a home from home rather than just a holiday let. They made us very welcome and left us a very kind welcome pack which included bread, milk, butter, wine and chocolates. Pattie was on hand to give advice on where to go and for anything we needed but also gave us privacy.
We were two families holidaying together and although there were only three bedrooms, Pattie put a small extra bed in one of the bedrooms and there was plenty of space for the four children in our group. The bathrooms were particularly good as was the very well equipped kitchen. We have stayed in several houses in France and can honestly say that this was the best one.

The carp lake was literally at the bottom of the garden set in woodland which was a really beautiful spot and a good few hours were spent fishing there with a 21lb catch!

The house is close to Brantome which is a wonderful town and we were about an hour away from Sarlat and the pre-historic caves which were well worth a visit.

Highly recommended for a quiet retreat in a luxurious setting

What a wonderful experience to not only find the villa more beautiful than the pictures but to also been given 5 star hospitality by the owners. We felt like we had arrived at a 5 star hotel with welcome pack of fresh eggs, bread, 3 types of wine, home made jam etc and not only that but fluffy towels and soap, kitchen roll, virtually everything we did not expect. At least we know next time not to bring the kitchen sink with us.

Great place and worth a lot more than it is currently being rented for.
