If you have a choice, take the other chalet.
Thank God for perfect snow, the village is a perfect location for a relaxed family skiing holiday. The location of the chalet in La Tzoumaz is also ideal.Logistically all of the essentials were centrally located, ski school, crèche, lift and even parking.
On your website, the chalet is described as being 350 m2, I am sure that this includes the two garages, (one of which was not available for our use) as well as the locked basement and the plant room.In old money, 3800 square feet is a big house, in effect the chalet only has one reception room, and while it worked for us, four adults and five children, I am not sure if 12 adults would be very happy.I do not believe it would be possible to seat 12 adults at the dining table, we were nine, and at that one adult had to sit at the head of the table on a stool. The one thing that did cause annoyance as you know, was the agreed level of service. Catering was a disaster. The issue that emerged over the week resulted from the fact that we had mince based meals for three of the six nights. As you know the first night was a disaster. Leek and potato soup, followed by spaghetti bolognaise (with undercooked onions) frozen garlic bread and an apple strudel bought from the local “CoOp”.The second night was perfect, baked cheese with red onion relish, roast lamb with perfectly cooked vegetables and a sublime desert. Could that be as a result of the Boss being in town.On the third and subsequent nights the starters were poor, or unimaginative at best, (green salad, lettuce, tomatoes and something else/ sliced sausage/ mozzarella and tomatoes/ tomato soup)Deserts were always good.
One point, every one of our party lost weight over the course of the week, there was never enough food.
Napkins, even if they are paper should be provided as a basic necessity at every meal. We had to ask for them every time, and then on occasion, they would be ceremoniously handed out one at a time to each of the nine individually.Given that there were only four adults in our group, and the fact that my wife never has more than one glass of white wine with her dinner, or that we only consumed two bottles of wine with dinner each evening, we were not impressed by the fact that the wine served at dinner was on special offer in the local Proxi Supermarket for SFR5.70 a bottle, that is £2.85 a bottle.
Owner's Response: The Guest is fully entitled to his review and air time. We have engaged with him over a long period of time in which his feedback was initially constructive and well received and indeed acted upon where appropriate to do so.
For the 2007/08 ski season we had more than 300 clients stay at our chalets. We have received very positive and constructive feedback from clients and no other negative reviews. In light of this we feel confident that our offering, service and pricing meets and in the main exceeds expectations.
Whilst we regret the Guests experience we sincerely feel that there was nothing more we could do to meet his expectations and understand we will from time to time encounter these unfortunate but isolated incidents.
