Top and Second Floor Apartments and Penthouses on the Island of Ciovo. South Facing. 15 minute drive from Split airport. 3 minutes walk to beach. The apartment has all mod cons, including CD player, Digital TV and DVD. Apartment has safe for your personal belongings. Large living/dining area with seating for 6 people, kitchen with microwave, full cooker, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Fresh bed linen and towels supplied. The bedrooms feature blackout blinds so your room doesn't get too bright in the early morning. Two full bathrooms are featured at the penthouses and apartments at Mavarcica. The beach bar is 3 minutes away and caters hot food all day. The pool area looks onto the Adriatic. The UNESCO protected town of Trogir is just five minutes away by car. Trogir is a walled medieval town dating back 2,400 years.

Penthouse Mavarcica Number 8 is a top floor apartment with panoramic views of the Adriatic. The apartment is furnished to a high standard with all the luxuries of home. There is a pool at the premises and the beach is a short stroll from the apartment (3 minutes). There is a safe provided to ensure piece of mind of any valuable documents or belongings. The kitchen area is kitted out with all you might need to cook lunch and evening meals. All the local produce is amazingly fresh and it can be lovely having meals out on the balcony overlooking the sea view. Penthouse Mavarcica has one double and one twin room. You also have the benefit of having two full large bathrooms. There are blackout blinds in the bedrooms - the main bedroom also opens up onto the balcony which has amazing views of the Adriatic. The open place living area is very airy and spacious.

  • €100 breakage and key deposit to be given on arrival, this will be returned to you at the end of your stay. 10 am checkout 3 pm check in Tourist tax of approx €1 per day per person to be paid at tourist office. (No charge for children under 12 years; €12 - €18.50 cent)
    To confirm booking half the amount is payable immediately and the remainder is due 6 weeks prior to arrival.

  • To confirm your booking 50% of the rental amount needs to be transferred into the bank account. This is non refundable. The remainder is then due 6 weeks prior to your arrival. We highly recommend taking out travel insurance that covers illnesses, accidents etc.

  • The season in Ciovo over the last few years has been getting longer. The season now starts as early as March/April and running right through to October and November. We have had many clients go over at these times of year and have really enjoyed it. We think there is a benefit for each month and it depends on what holiday experience you are looking for. For example the early months of March and April offer a relaxed quite atmosphere plus Croatia offers warm weather in comparison to the UK, Ireland, Germany etc. The high season offers very warm weather, a lively atmosphere, right in the hustle and bustle of everything. The end of the season offers the last of the summer sun, a great time to do some sightseeing and to get a feel for Croatia and its beautiful countryside.
    Lots of festivals take place throughout the whole year. Split offers the Opera and Ballet. Why not go at Easter or Mid Term breaks. Call us at any stage sif you want more information about the best time to go.

A welcome pack is provided for guests to use to make you familiar with Ciovo/Trogir. The pack includes details on the area, sites to see and recommendations of many restaurants and bars in Trogir and Ciovo. Important telephone numbers are listed and the pack includes maps of the surrounding area. Also a wide selection of cd's are available to use throughout your stay. An extensive list of artists are included that we think you will enjoy. We also have a variety of games at each penthouse - poker chip and card set, chess board, draughts board and jenja. The CD collection includes a wide range of artists.

Tourist Attractions: Some of the tourist attractions include Krka National Park – 72 Km of the Krka river and lakes with its wonderful waterfalls. Approximately 45 minutes by car from the apartment heading towards Sibenik. And a must see. Trogir – Is a jewel of a walled town with a wide waterfront promenade that encloses a maze of medieval streets. Trogir is a mere 5 mins by car or water taxi. Places of interest include Cathedral of St Lovro and Church of St. John the Baptist. 15th century town hall opposite the cathedral with a gothic yard. Island Hopping – The Islands of Brac and Hvar are easily accessible from the apartment. Regular ferry’s connect from Split to the Islands. Why not have an overnight and enjoy the beaches and town centre.

A Holiday from Heaven

Our holiday was amazing! The penthouse apartment is exactly as described and was, in fact, even better than we dared hope for. The layout is relaxing and spacious but also very practical for a holidaying group or family. All mod cons are provided, you really need for nothing here. The apartment is cleaned and maintained to the highest standard and feels comfortable and luxurious - the finish is superb. Our beds were very comfortable and there is extra linen available.
Both bedrooms are nicely furnished with plenty of hanging and drawer space. There is a small safe in the double bedroom wardrobe which gave me peace of mind for passports etc.
The bathrooms are lovely, sparkling clean and the overall feeling is of high quality with marble tiling throughout.
We found the kitchen to be well equipped - there was everything I needed to cook family meals most nights.
The view from the balcony is breathtaking! I spent happy mornings watching the sun rise over the sea. The balcony is spacious and well furnished. The area in which the apartment block is situated is quiet and peaceful and it really is a very pleasant (short) walk down to the beach. The beach is a gem - quiet,clean and unspoilt, the water is crystal clear and calm. There is a beach bar offering friendly service and cheap drinks and snacks - but nothing else - what a joy to be free from beach vendors and tacky gift shops.
There is a supermarket, bakery (fantastic bread and cakes), fruit and veg stall and a choice of restaurants in the village so you needn't travel far unless you want to. Everythig seemed very reasonably priced to us.
The boat trip from main beach to the medieval town of Trogir was a highlight. Trogir is so beautiful, and again feels unspoilt and magical - the whole family enjoyed exploring there.
I could go on and on... there were no negatives to this trip and I feel like I need to return to this beautiful country and discover more. We felt very safe and welcome in Croatia.
Alison has been friendly and helpful throughout the whole planning and booking process, patient and understaning when my bank transferred too little money for the deposit(!) even organising extra accomodation for us when we needed to fly out a day earlier than planned. Thank you so much!

My Holiday at Mavarcica in Ciovo

Alison, Thank you for a wonderful stay at your beautiful apartment! My three friends and I stayed at Penthouse Mavarcica in Ciovo for nine nights. The weather was perfect and the place was nothing short of exceptional. Our holiday stay in Alison's apartment left a memorable impression of a clean, airy and comfortable penthouse with breathtaking views of the Adriatic - pictures don't do it justice. The penthouse itself had everything we needed and had some added extras like cd's, games and books. There are two full bathrooms comfortably large. Waking up each morning to a stunning view of the pristine and peaceful waters of the Adriatic was something I'll never forget. We enjoyed delicious meals at the local restaurants but also made a few of our own using fresh local produce. Ciovo is a delightful little island and so handy to get to as you don't have to get a ferry - just take a bus or walk from Trogir. Trogir is a real delight, with its narrow streets and walls - you really need to experience this ancient walled city. I was thrilled to recognise Trogir when I viewed a Dr. Who episode that was recently filmed there. This ancient walled city is surrounded by restaurants and cafes on the waterfront, very relaxing. Buses to Split and other places are very frequent.
We would love to come back!

Magnificent view

Our holiday was very nice, we really enjoyed the spacious and well equipped apartment and the lovely view from the terrace. Miro, the property manager is helpful in all kinds of requests.
Without car it can be recommended for young couples or families without children who are ready to walk 2-3 kilometers to the main beach of Ciovo, otherwise you can go on foot to smaller secluded beaches around the apartment. If you want to leave the island with car you might have to wait 2-3 hours in the queue depending on the traffic (you have to plan it in advance). The parking place that belongs to the block is not guaranteed, so it is better to arrange/rent a place in the garage.

Mavarcica Holiday

What a great apartment, Alison's descriptions are accurate and you will not be disappointed. Alison was always very prompt at answering any extra questions. The info in the apartment was good and the music CD's a fabulous extra. My only negative would be that there is no air-conditioning in the bedrooms.
Please allow for heavy traffic at peak holiday times i.e. it took us an hour from airport. Leave before 8.00am if you need to leave the island for day trips etc. Although Krka park was beautiful it was heaving when we went and the boat trips were all fully booked. I would avoid in high season. If you like old Forts/Castles I would reccommend Klis not far inland from Split amazing well preserved fort, also Omis with the river and forts breathtaking scenery. The water taxi is the only way to travel to Trogir very easy and no problem.
We ate regularly at Mali Raj always excellent food but not always great service. New restaurant just down the road Bistro Renata - good pizzas and fairly cheap.
We would definately return and recommend
Penthouse Mavarcica.
Recommended for:  Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: Great advice there re: the traffic. Another way to avoid is by taking the water to Trogir on the evenings you plan on going in. The traffic is much lighter throughout the day and many of the taxi drivers know short cuts when it's busy :)

We have put an extra large fan in the apartment to use as well as the air con.

A wonderful stay on a glorious island...

Thanks for a wonderful stay at your Penthouse...

We stayed at Penthouse Mavarcica in September 2008, the weather was great and the place was still buzzing with people..

Alison's description was accurate and we were delighted the view is exactly as the pictures show. The penthouse itself had everything we needed and had some added extras like cd's, games and books. It was so clean and very spacious for our party of 5. There are two full bathrooms which are pretty large. We would wake up each morning and have our breakfast on the balcony, enjoying the amazing views, it really is so peaceful to look out over the Adriatic in the early hours..

Alison was very efficient to deal with and the service from Vlado when we arrived was great. We will be recommending this apartment and the area to friends.

Ciovo is a delightful little island and so handy to get to as you don't have to get a ferry - its attached by bridge to Trogir - it took us 15 minutes to get to the apartment. Trogir is a delight, with its narrow street and walls - you really need to experience its magic...

We loved the trip to Krka. We also took up the offer to go rafting which was a day we'll remember forever - such fun...
