Local activities:
Beaches are all accessible on foot but the nearest is Dorada beach which is 1000m away. There is a nice waterfront walk from the Marina to Dorada which is suitable by buggy or wheelchair. The famous Papagayo beaches are best accessed by car but can be walked. There are 6 beaches and all are lovely yellow sand. If you are a naturist then this is where you might like to visit. There are a number of beaches, what we call 'locals beaches' which take a little more searching. Nearest 400m.As with the other Canary Islands, Lanzarote is Volcanic in origin. Due to the recent eruptions during the 18th and 19th Centuries, many parts of Lanzarote appear to be from another world, often described as 'lunar' or 'Martian', so much so that parts of 'Planet of the Apes' were shot here.
Marina rubicon:
The marina is ideal for people who like to scuba, sail and enjoy life on the water. There are kayaks for the kids. If you like ten pin bowling there is a bowling alley and for the golfers there is a pitch and put course and crazy golf for the kids and bouncy castles. On Dorada beach there are banana boats and pedalos. Within 1500m of 100 restaurants and bars, many shops, 5 supermarkets, 2 local markets numerous banks, Doctors (Nr Dorada Beach), water sports, Pitch and Putt. 2 Yellow beaches (9 in 3000m).
Helitours Air excursion is the best way to see the whole of Lanzarote. There are 2 main excursions you can take. Children under 2 years FREE! Places of intrest:
Lanzarote is relatively small and from Playa Blanca to the top of the island takes about an hour. There are great Markets and once you have done the Market in the Marina Rubicon then try Teguise Market. There is of course Fire Mountain and some great places of interest such as the Cesar Mariguee museum and cactus garden. There are great places to eat on the Island and you might like to try fish in El Golfo, Quamada or Famara all are great. If you like to surf then try Famara beach.
Lanzarote Aquarium - Tel: 928 80 01 47 The Lanzarote Aquarium is located in Costa Teguise Los Zocos and Apartments Lanzarote Gardens. There are 33 Aquariums with tropical and Canary Island marine beds. While wondering around the Aquarium you also have a chance to touch some of the creatures and there are many plastic bubbles which magnify's the fist inside the tanks so no matter how small they might be you will have a good view of the animals.
