Our comfortable family-friendly villa is a short walk to the centre of the medieval village of Cabrieres d'Avignon with its baker (said to be the best in the area!), butcher, grocer, honey shop, and three restaurants. An easy walk to collect freshly baked bread and croissants for breakfast! Cabrieres has all the advantages of the Luberon National Park yet is not overwhelmed by tourists. The 3000-square-metre garden is a peaceful oasis on hot summer days with its Mediterranean trees and shrubs of olive, oleander, rosemary, lavender, and wild thyme . The landscaped swimming pool (ten metres by five metres)is in a sunny position with views of the Luberon and Les Alpilles Mountains. Bright south-facing house with 3 bedrooms, bathroom with bath/shower, basin and bidet, a separate toilet, large open plan living/dining room, modern, spacious kitchen with superb double-oven cooker (SUITS KEEN COOKS!). The kitchen leads directly onto the spacious patio with BBQ, hammock & dining table.

This area has an above average sunshine record. Good restaurants and vineyards abound so this is a haven for gastronomic adventures. The villages made famous by Peter Mayle in 'A Year in Provence' are well within half an hour’s drive (Bonnieux, Menerbes, Lacoste) and Gordes (‘un des plus beau village de France’) is even closer. Isle sur la Sorgue with its canals and famous Sunday antique market is just around the corner as is the beautiful village of Fontaine de Vaucluse. The Ochre mines at Roussillon are a must. Provencal markets are daily in this region. The surrounding countryside has vineyards, lavender and sunflower fields, wooded hillsides, ochre cliffs, gorges and gullies. The Roman cities of Avignon, Arles, Nimes, are an easy drive. Marseille. St Remy de Provence.Aix and the Camargue make interesting day trips as does the famous aqueduct 'the Pont du Gard'. Seafood restaurants and beaches are at Cassis, barely a 1 hour drive.

Notes: The air-conditioning and central heating is available in one double bedroom, the main living/dining areas and kitchen. However the house remains comfortably cool even at the hottest times of year. There are retractable insect nets on all windows. The house has a comprehensive reading and reference library for your enjoyment. A selection of frenchflavour Dvds are provided and Cd's can be borrowed from the owners. The kitchen is particularly well equipped and would suit anyone who likes to cook. We provide a wide range of cookery books. The garden has a hammock, as well as the one on the patio. Tennis rackets and boules are available.

Great Holiday in Provence

We would highly recommend this accomodation for a superb holiday. It was secluded yet close to restaurants and a beautiful village. Property was of an excellent standard, great pool and all the extras we needed. The owners were very welcoming and helpful also. It was our first time in Provence and we plan to return. Thanks for a great holiday!
