Beautiful renovated barn dated from 1806 into a beautiful spacious holiday home

La Grange is situated in a small hamlet of Les Viaullieres, in the beautiful french countryside. La Grange has 2 bedrooms, Chambre Mure has a king size bed and a single bed and a en-suite with shower, toilet and hand basin. Chambre bleu has a double bed and a single bed with the ensuite across the small lobby which has a shower, toilet and hand basin. There is a spacious lounge with a beautiful fireplace with wood burning stove and comfortable furniture for 8 people. One of the settees turns into a very comfortable double bed. There is English television and radio also DVD player.

The large kitchen diner has a large dining table which seats 8 people. There is also a downstairs bathroom with shower toilet and hand basin.

The garden surrounds La Grange with a terrace of decking and gravel overlooking the beautiful views at the rear of the barn with tables and chairs plus 6 sunchairs plus 1 large parasol and a BBQ. In the front garden there is also tables and chairs with a parasol.

La Grange is situated in a small hamlet of Les Viaullieres, in the commune of Chaumussay. Although in the beautiful countryside of Southern Loire there is so much to do and see. There are many villages and towns which hold a weekly market. Loches which is 20 minutes drive away holds a market Wednesday and Saturday plus in the summer a lovely night market where you can buy local food and wine, visit the chateau, don jon and walk around the charming town with its beautiful park. Le Grand Pressigny a small town has its chateau with its new museum of prehistoric history. Also nearby you can spend the day swimming in the river at Lesigny where there is a beach great for the children and having lunch at the picnic area by the river. La Roche Possay, 10 minutes drive also has a market but is also a spa town and also has a beach and swimming in the river. We have a cooking school nearby, Le Calabash spend the day with Sidney and Alison having demonstrations and eating the wonderful food.

Additional information about rental rates

  • * We ask for 25% of the rental cost upon booking. This deposit is non refundable should you cancel. The remaining 75% should be paid 8 weeks before the start of your holiday. At this time we will ask for for an additional refundable deposit of
    £250 which we retain in case of breakages or damage etc.
    Which will be returned within a fortnight after departure from the barn.

    * All bed linen and towels are included in the rental.Pillows and duvets are also included in the rental. Normal use of electric and gas are included and we make no extra charge for cleaning at the end of the stay. We do request that you leave the barn as clean and tidy as possible.If you wish not to do a final clean we charge 75 euros.

    * There will be a welcome pack of local produce waiting for you on arrival to start your holiday.

    * We do ask you to arrive after 4pm.

    * The barn must be vacated by 10.00am on day of departure.
  • Where the barn is situated there is a choice of sightseeing go north to the Loire river where many beautiful chateaux, Amboise, Villandry, Chinon, Azay le Ferron, Azay-le-Rideau, Saumur and Fontevraud-l'Abbaye.
    Visit Tours with its beautiful old town and many pavement restaurants or catch a train and visit Paris for the day journey taking only 1 hour

    The coast is a 2 hour drive. Visit La Rochelle a beautiful town with many shops and restaurants. And many sandy beaches.

    There are many restaurants if you wish to eat out and very reasonable menu's. If you want to splash out book a table at Le Promenade in Le Petit Pressigny a michelin star restaurant and only 5 minutes down the road. These will be found in the information pack supplied at the barn.

The most Idyllic picturesque Holiday Home

My husband and I spent two amazing weeks there after his return from a year in Afghanistan. It was just what we and especially he needed. Perfect sunny weather, stunning scenery,and just lots to do. If we didn't spend the days cycling or running through the beautiful countryside, we would venture out sightseeing (thanks to the vast knowledge of Hilary and David we were never at a loss of things to do).

We would both go back in a heartbeat and look forward to seeing the most hospitable and friendly owners Hilary and David again. La Grange is a stunning renovation that you can tell has been a labor of love. We cant wait to go back and have another perfect holiday.

Dream vacation in the French countryside

visiting the Loire valley with young children is easier to do when you have a real home away from home. La Grange is exactly that. It is clean, new, spacious and comfortable with beautiful bedrooms, very well equipped kitchen, fun living room and the best yard for a lazy afternoon. It is set among fields and forests where we took great walks with our children. The location is perfect for visiting Touraine and the charming owners know everything about the surroundings and are eager to share their knowledge. We loved cooking at home and eating on the outer deck but we also loved the restaurant at nearby Chambon called "Le Vieux Fournil", we couldn't believe how good the food was in this tiny village. I would recommend this property to families that like to spend quality time in the countryside but still want to enjoy some of the sights and attractions of the Loire. The property has files with info on EVERYTHING around. Our best days were looking up the location of the daily market, buying all the goodies we wanted and walking up to the local Chateau, for a royal picnic.
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

A lovely, lovely place

We stayed a week in mid August, and though the weather was merely OK, the hospitality of David and Hilary was extra special - and the house they pulled together, through much hard work and dedication, an extraordinary home for their guests - the hamlet and the surrounding area is lovely for walks - and there is so much to do in the area, that you will wish you had booked for two weeks. We (family of 2 adults+two rather energetic boys of 7 and 3) found the house a wonderful place to stay - we would - and do - recommend it to anyone.
Recommended for:  Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
