Ostuni is a beautiful centre called “white town” because of the lime used for the typical, Mediterranean houses standing out against a sky of rare beauty. The town is placed over one of the five hills (300 metres above sea level) surrounding Valle D’Itria and spreading until the Murgia area. The town has an air of tranquillity thanks to the kindness of the inhabitants who make this place really hospitable. The historical origins of Ostuni date back to the Messapi who founded the town over one of the highest hills in order to rescue it from enemy attacks. Walking through the small streets of the peculiarly tangled historical centre, you are captured by the perfume and colours of the flowers decorating the walls and the window sills of the typical houses.
Thanks to its strategic and central position connecting to the most important places of the region, it is easy to reach Alberobello and the “trulli”, unique in the world which have been recognised part of UNESCO etc.
