The Mill and Mill House have recently been restored to a very high standard and are full of character - chestnut beams, wooden floors and the original grinding stones. The houses are secluded, situated at the edge of a hamlet and are completely separate but can be interlinked. The kitchens are full equipped and are ideal for those who love to cook - and each house has a separate dining room and a comfortable lounge. Centrally heated. Perfect for a peaceful holiday in the scenic Garfagnana, known for its gastronomic traditions, authentic reasonably priced restaurants and countryside activities. The walled town of Castiglione with bars, shops and restaurant is nearby. The ancient city of Lucca is 1 hour away, Pisa airport 1.5 hour. Good train links from Castelnuovo. Relax by the pool, walk in the countryside or explore the medieval hill top villages of this undiscovered part of Tuscany. In the evenings eat out under the stars or enjoy a meal in one of many recommended local restaurants.

The Mill is full of character, still retaining the original grinding stones on the lower floor, providing a cool sitting/reading/games area. Fully fitted kitchen with granite surfaces, dishwasher, microwave, bread-maker, cooker with electric oven and gas hob, fridge and second drinks fridge. Opens onto covered breakfast balcony with views of th valley - ideal for sitting or eating out. Attractive character lounge with wood burning stove, leather sofas and more original mill features. Large flat screen DVD. Separate dining room with granite table, further sofa and chair, stereo.

The Mill and Mill House are situated at the edge of a small hamlet, a picturesque 10 minutes drive from the walled medieval town of Castiglione with its bars, shops and spectacular views. The larger town of Castelnuovo with its weekly market is 20 minutes away. The ancient city of Lucca (1 hour) is perfect for a day out and a cycle along the ancient walls., Pisa airport 1.5 hours. Good train links from Castelnuovo to Florence. The Garfagnana is an area of outstanding natural beauty - well known for walking, trekking, mountain biking, fishing and other countryside pursuits. The Mill and Mill House are very close to the Garfagnana Trekking route, there is a horse riding centre in Castiglione and a forest climbing course 20 minutes away. The Garfaganana is a gastronomic area with many traditional family restaurants serving excellent local food at very reasonable prices and many food festivals during the summer.

The Mill and Mill House are ideal to rent together for large groups or families sharing - sleeping 17 plus sofa bed.

Outside: The Mill iand Mill House are set in a peaceful location with their own garden with gazebo and garden furniture overlooking the river. The pool is 7.5m x 3.5m with a large wooden decking area for sun loungers. In addition to the breakfast balcony for the Millthere is also a stone terrace with loungers overlooking the pool. The Mill House has a walled terace and pergola with vines. There is an outside table tennis table and basketball net. and a barbeque.

In the future we are looking to offer afternoon cookery courses followed by a meal and evening wine tastings as options during your stay. Let us know if you would be interested.

Ski: There is a small ski resort (with a fantastic restaurant) 35 mins from the Mill at Casone - ideal for beginners and children. The extensive resort of Abetone is 1.5 hours away.
