From Blagnac Airport, Toulouse, go west on the road to Auch until Isle Jourdain. Then go south to Samartan. From Samartan, go through Lombez and onto Isle-e-Dodon. From Isle go to Coueilles, about 5 km from Isle. On arriving in Coueilles, turn right opposite the church into Route de Fabas. Go up the hill and we are the second property on the right - a terracotta villa with pale green shutters. Park in front of house or open garden gate and there is ample parking for 3/4 cars. Notes: The advantage of our property is that you have beautiful countryside views from all sides of the house. It is quiet and private. Exiting any of the 3 double doors onto the garden, there are only distant farmhouses in sight over the rolling hills right up to the snow-capped Pyrenees. The garden is divided into an orchard, rockery, two lawns to the side and back of the house, rose garden, plenty of room for 'boules' or 'badminton'. By the swimming pool, is a superb open-sided barn, perfect for shady relaxing on the sunloungers or outside dining. We have table and chairs, lanterns and even an outside chandelier. The brick bar-b -q is by the barn, as is the wood store. At night, we light up the pool, light the dining area and put on all the house exterior lighting. An idyllic setting to quaff the local wine at E5 a llitre!!

Tennis and Horse Riding: There is a tennis court up the road in Fabas (5mins away) E10 a year! Also in Isle-en-Dodon there 2 more courts. Key from the 'La Cave'. The horse riding school in Escanacrabe is excellent. Our clients say they have come back to go to this stables by the River Save, it is so good. For all ages.

Golf: There is a 9 hole golf course at Chateau Barbet (15 mins). There is a 18 hole golf course at Lombez (20 mins). Il y a un terrain de golf (9 trous) a Chateau Barbet (15 mins) Il ya un terrain de golf (18 trous) a Lombez (20 mins)

Canoeing: Very good canoeing school about 20 mins away. Various trials for all levels in the fast flowing River Save. Exciting outing!

'So great to find an early 19c french house that still has its original charm and features, but with all the modern facilities to go with it. Location delightful for a peaceful break. The old grange is excellent for outside eating and generally relaxing in the shade. Wonderful swimming pool!'

'The atmosphere is peaceful and welcoming. The furnishings are clean and bright; so nice to have a separate dining room. The beds are really comfortable with goose feather pillows! A romantic outdoor dining area next to the pool receives the last rays of the sun. A car is a must as there is plenty to see in the surrounding area, markets every day in a local village, soirees by the river during the summer, concerts and plenty of restaurants and cafes. Great location away from the tourism of the Provence.'

A wonderful week

If it is the genuine rural France you're after you won't get much better than this.
This wonderful 250 year old property has been sympathetically restored while retaining many original period features. It is comfortable and cosy and on first entering had a relaxed, welcoming feel to it. Located approx 5 k from the nearest village with its shops and restaurants the location feels wonderfully isolated with stunning views of the Pyrenees.
The pool, which was immacultate when we arrived, and open ended barn (ideal for barbeques) are great additions. We had a fabulous time, came home totally relaxed and can't wait to return.

A Long Weekend Break for Two

This 19th century french house is quite delightful and well preserved ( it even has its own original bread oven in working condition). Its overall charming character transports you a bygone era and integrates modern with the good ol' days extremely well. The setting is idyllic with lovely views of the countryside. There is a magnificent open barn next to the pool which provides a cool place to sit or lounge about on a hot day and have a barbecue. The kitchen is well equipped with a central table so that you can eat breakfast unless of course you wish to eat outside under the open barn. The furnishings are modern and bright. The surrounding countryside is great for exploring and walking. We would love to go back!

A new part of France to explore

We were enchanted with this villa, a perfect holiday location in June although a week is not enough to see everything in the area.

The house was bright and airy and the newly installed shower is far better than we have at home.
The garden is charming and a perfect place to relax and enjoy the view . We saw some interesting butterflies on the lavander hedge including a swallowtail a rare treat. Birdlife too is interesting, Egrets in the valley and Bee eaters and Golden Oriels, and of course Nightinggales in the trees in the garden.

A great holiday.

We stayed at the house in summer 2008 for a week.

Lana and I had a splendid time at the house, from bbq in the garden, midnight skinny dipping, cycling to the shops - though I would not recommend the weak of heart do this, the hills are fearful! - to just sitting around the pool and occasionally seeking shelter from the sunshine in the "dutch" barn.

The house was clean, as was the pool, the kitchen well stocked and easy to use.

We found the locals very friendly, shopkeepers helpful - we did try our hardest to speak French - Toulouse sausages were fantastic and lunch at the 9 hole golf club of confit de canard is highly recommended, as is the golf course. The nearby tennis courts were in great condition and we had fun on many mornings. Local markets were great fun, not for the squeamish as some of the live produce looked a little sad, but then so would I have done perhaps.

Overall, highly recommend a break to get away from it all.
