My husband and I travelled to France for four weeks in June, staying one week in four areas of the southwest region. We booked this apartment through the internet and were very disappointed when we arrived - the photographs and description on the web page are extremely misleading. We received poor customer service, ie not very welcoming and repeating some of the rules that were left on the coffee table for us to read and which had also been emailed to us. We booked and paid for 7 nights via the internet but we were so disappointed that we left after one night. The main train line is just a few metres to the side of apartment and this disturbed us a couple of times during the night. There was no airconditioning in the bedrooms so sleeping was uncomfortable. The walk into Banyuls took 20 minutes at a good pace (description said 5). There was a small terrace next to the entry but there was no view unless you stood against the wall that surrounded it. The main bedroom had a terrace (no table or chairs) and again we had to stand at the wall to have any sort of view. From the photographs on the web page there appears to be a table with a bottle of wine and two glasses on it looking out towards the mountains but this would not be possible from the apartment. The spare bedrooms were very cramped with nowhere to hang clothes. There was a small airconditioning unit in the living room and a small mobile fan available in the bedroom proved ineffective. There was a double mattress on the floor of the mezanine and a very low ceiling, making it feel claustrophobic - there was no bedside table or other furniture. We left the apartment as we found it, ie clean, and a letter explaining why we had to leave. We asked if they could respond to our letter via our email address and that perhaps a partial refund might be offered. We received neither a reply or any refund. We were able to find a far cheaper and much nicer apartment in Collioure. I'm pleased to say we were able to enjoy the remainder of our holiday in France.
Owner's Response: Maybe our client clearly wanted to be in Collioure from the outset, and we are pleased that she managed to find alternative accommodation there on a Sunday in high season. She knew we were close at hand but for some reason chose to leave without a word.
We have been letting this apartment for 7 years, to more than 100 clients, families, individuals, couples, senior citizens, walking groups etc and have only ever had positive comments. We have never actively requested that people post a review, but have now contacted previous clients as we feel this review is unfounded.
We cannot understand what the issue was with this client.
