Activities in easy reach:
The house is situated in the heart of the French countryside ideally situated for walking (the forest of Verneuil is less than 5 minutes away and the forest of Loches 10 minutes away). There is fishing locally at the village of Bridore and the local rivers. Golf is only 5 minutes away at the superb 9 hole golf course at Verneuil-sur-Indre, a course that is twinned with St Andrews in Scotland. There are some beaches on the local river with safe swimming. There are also beaches, swimming, sailing and other water activities only a twenty minute drive in the Forest of Brenne. If you enjoy cycling, there are many safe routes that you spend hours exploring. Whatever your favourite activity you will find it within easy reach of this house.
Chateaux within easy reach:
If you prefer exploring chateaux, we have our own at Bridore and are within easy reach of all the favourites of the region. 10 minutes away is Loches ,with its pretty town and Citadel containing the Royal Logis, 30 minutes to Amboise with its famous Chateau and Clos with a superb Sunday Market, 30 minutes from Chenenncoux. There are so many to see it is impossible to list them all in this small space.
There are also delightful vineyards offering 'degustation' (wine tasting, which is usually free) within a 20-30 minutes drive. Antoine Simmoneau at St George-sur -Cher is one of our favourites , offering degustation, tours of the caves, lovely gifts and of course very good wines. The family are very welcoming and love to talk about the history of their vineyard and wines.
