Once a sleepy fishing village, Moraira has grown to a small charming picturesque town and due to strict planning laws, is still very pretty and not over developed; not a high rise in sight. The main hub of life is its three parallel roads leading to the bay and beach on one side and marina on the other, which provide focus for a well earned coffee, glass of wine or some tapas from one of the many cafes and bars after browsing through the varied selection of shops and boutiques. An old watch tower stands sentinel over the beach with its deep area of beautiful sand gently sloping to the sea. Safe swimming areas are clearly marked with water sports strictly separated. The square of what was the old village is charming, retaining much of the original character and atmosphere, and is home to the local church. The marina area has a fine selection of restaurants but beware, the walk from the beach passes a selection of Gellaterias and some of the best ice cream sundaes on the Cost Blanca.

Nearby - Javea
Javea is best known for its unspoiled beauty and excellent 'Blue Flag' beaches. Javea itself is split into three main areas. The 'Arenal' which offers beautiful sandy beaches, a promenade of shops, bars and restaurants with a small fair for the children in the summer months with rides, trampoline and go-karts. Javea Port is a tradional fishing port with a large Marina, intimate cobbled streets, a brightly lit promenade of restaurants and bars, and clean pebbled beaches. The traditional historic town has cobbled streets and is relatively unspoilt with a quiet and relaxing ambience. It has many traditional 'Tapas Bars' and a weekly market. The spectacular Fiestas in Javea begin in June and continue throughout the summer months.
Nearby - Calpe
The spectacular drive along the coast road from Moriara hugs the coastline and takes you through Moravit, past Benitachell’s secluded beach and Club Nuatica, a very popular venue for water sport enthusiasts, before entering Calpe, with its two superb blue flag beaches divided by the ‘Peñón de Ifach’ rock, a huge craggy headland used as a watchtower against Berber pirates now a nature reserve; it is possible to climb to the top for breathtaking views along the coast & inland over the mountains. The nearby salt flats are home to a large number of flamingos that can be seen all year round wading in the shallow waters. Owners Choice: The fishing harbour beneath the Ifach where you will find a row of restaurants each with a large stall outside covered with trays fish and crustaceans. Waiters will offer a free glass of Sangria and nibbles of fried whitebait, baby octopus and calamari. Your job is to pick the tray that suites you and enjoy a glass of wine while the chief cooks your meal.
Nearby - Jalon Valley - Alcalali
The Jalon valley cuts inland through the sierras and has become popular with those expatriate residents that want to go rural. As a result it supports a plentiful supply of restaurants and they are all VERY good. The drive from Benitachell is 20 to 30 minutes and well worth it. This is where those in-the-know go to eat. Owner’s choice: ???? or during the season, as a complete alternative try Alcalali village square. Three or four restaurants serve over two hundred people at assorted tables throughout the square as they eat to sound of a live band. Foods cheap and basic but the atmosphere’s tremendous. But don’t expect Spanish. This is a British enclave.
