Winter pursuits:
The ski season is from December to April. The skiing is suitable for all levels from the 5km (green) Marvel to the Cascades a 14km run around Sixt Fer a Cheval nature reserve. The resort is linked to the Grand Massif with some 265km of downhill skiing, suitable for all levels. (including: Les Carroz; Sixt fer a Cheval; Morillon and Flaine) and provides extensive skiing for all levels with virtually no queues. Not many places offer such a wide variety of skiing, and very few have such fantastic panoramic views over Mont-Blanc. There is an excellent nursery slope area at Samoëns 1600, in fact now the biggest beginners’ area in the Haute Savoie. For the more advanced there is also a testing terrain: The steep north-facing mogul slopes from the Tête des Saix, the central point of the entire Grand Massif system, down to Samoëns are particularly enjoyable. Intermediate and more advanced skiers and boarders will enjoy the 49 red pistes; 12 black pistes and snowparks of the Grand Massif.
Non winter pursuits:
As the snow melts away in the valley leaving just the magnificent snow capped peaks, Samoëns bursts into life with a vast array of outdoor activities including: endless walking for all levels, paragliding, 600 km of Mountain Biking, white water rafting, Canyoning, Canoe-rafting, Hydro speed, Rock climbing, Via Ferrata, Indiana Park - an adventure assault course through the trees, potholing, and guided heritage tours. Samoëns is also perfectly placed to visit some of the wonderful surrounding areas and historic towns such as Evian, Thonon les Bains, Chamonix and Mont Blanc, Annecy and Geneva. There are also numerous golf courses set in stunning alpine scenery within an hour’s drive of the chalet.
Children:
The area is fantastic for children. There is a great outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, a skate ramp, different children's play areas with slides, swings, roundabouts, climbing ropes, etc.,
Children can be introduced to skiing from the age of 3 in a specially adapted children's ski area, the Jardin des Neiges. This is an enclosed, landscaped area created especially for children, allowing them to learn to ski with maximum enjoyment in total safety.
After skiing activities include an ice skating rink in the village centre.
