Riad Dar Zaman, meaning “old house”, is a jewel in the heart of the hectic Marrakech medina. The riad is ideally located north of the main square, close to the souks and the Medersa Ben Youssef. Run by an energetic young team under the guiding hand of the English owner, this is a place for calm, for romance, for laughter and a truly great vibe. Centuries old, the riad has been restored to its former glory and is now a gorgeous boutique guesthouse. Boasting four exquisite double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning/heating, the queen-sized beds are heavenly; decadent lie-ins are mandatory! Both the salon and salle à manger have open fireplaces, and a third smaller salon is equipped with satellite TV and wifi hotspot. Graced by swaying palms and perfumed by jasmine and orange blossom, the sun terrace is a wonderful retreat in the sun or shade. Relax with a mint tea and relish in the magic of the call of the muezzin and the spectacular views across the medina rooftops.

The stay at the Riad was magical…step inside and this calm peaceful place greets you. It has been recently refurbished to a high standard…I felt so safe and at peace with the world…Breakfast was a joy…

We stayed in the riad for 10 days during May 2008. Neither of us had been to Morocco before. We had the warmest of welcomes from Peter the owner and the welcome continued throughout our stay. The riad is such a relaxing place to stay, with the most amazing of home cooked food. We stayed in the terrace room, waking up to the most amazing breakfast each morning. I cannot fault this holiday....We want to go back soon. Many thanks to Peter, Hassan and Fatima for making our stay so wonderful.

We loved the riad and thought it was beautifully restored. Peter was extremely helpful and organised taxis, a visit to a fantastic restaurant/piscine in the mountains where we had a relaxing day and gorgeous lunch, he also booked our coach travel to the coast.
Hassan was very attentive and we enjoyed a lovely evening meal served by him and prepared by Fatima. The riad is immaculately maintained and we particularly enjoyed the terrace

It was amazing to be in this lovely riad set so close to the souks and amidst the local Marrakesh people.
